From my understanding, any VDSL modem that is "NBN Ready" should also be sweet in NZ. Most of the newer Draytek stuff is fine.

Unfortuantely, Draytek is rather expensive - several hundred dollars for a unit with Wifi - and it's not the sort of money I'd just gamble to find out if it works or not - considering my Cisco works fine.

Nbn ready is normally a good flag for it as above.

Your looking at single brand names that support may be lacking in.

A good 90+% of users on vdsl vectoring have compliant modems if scale hits as I'm interpreting.
Even our hg630s on their first firmware seem happy

Use the DV130 with a seperate router/access point. There are a lot of people here using a DV130 (which is compatible with vectoring, with the correct firmware) and a separate AP, or a seperate Router and AP depending on the performance you want.

The DV130 is not expensive - You could get a DV130, an EdgerouterX and a UAP-AC for under $500, which would perform awesomely, even in comparison to some flash AIO device worth the same or more.

All depends what your expectations are...? I mean you could get a NF4V. That works fine, all in one, ADSL/VDSL, and is 'NBN Ready' so will almost certainly be sweet with vectoring.

Dlink and Netcomm are in the same boat as Draytek, Fritzbox and Cisco. All of these have between no information and mixed messages.

That leaves Huawei, which you have confirmed works, Asus, which supposedly works and Linksys, which I haven't looked into.

Sounds geeky :-)

But the majority of end customers want 1 device, not 3.

But, for myself personally, you suggestion does have the benefit of mitigating xDSL standards risk (noting there is a possibility G.fast may become a thing).

All DV130's on VDSL need to run either Modem 4 or 8 Firmware or no support for Vectoring, most unsuspecting folk probably running STD FW

Same goes probably for any Draytek modem/router needing Vectoring enabled FW

Fritzbox support Vectoring even the GUI shows as such I think
Where as the DV130 doesn't show vectoring is active or not

Think you will find actually many of those devices do support it and simply isn't plastered over the box.

Chorus will have ran the numbers and confirmed they aren't going to not get their ROI by having out of date modems.

Imo there should be the same approch taken as overseas. If your modem is incompatable it gets a slow profile assigned.
By being not vector compatable you directly affect the potential gains.

The fact that chorus are using zerotouch to look after this situation is ideal for consumers (if they don't have a valid modem no problem. ) but also means there is no vectoring on upstream.

unless you're using xtra, then you'll get 1.5 megabit upload.

Maybe theres one at home for me this week... I was hoping to see them do the right thing and have a section highlighting the upload speed loss.

A guarantee that's gonna be a spike in call drivers.
Chorus assure will have a spike in no fault founds applied too I'd bet...
