I think the Quote was "he can't communicate with his friends as he want's to" KEY words being "AS HE WANTS TO" , qualified his statement with "as he wants to" you stripped that off for your straw-man troll post.

The trouble ,when you live in Congested areas , is that the ping can climb to the point where pages timeout and your internet experience suffers. The "Speedtest" doesn't tell the full story.

In theory you might be correct but in practice its a different story , you should know this if you're in the business? what exactly do you do at Vodafone?.

Heh, clearly another expert on the matter has decided to weigh in. Good grief. Perhaps you might start up a company to do it then? I imagine getting together a few billion and instant infrastructure will be no big problem for you and everyone else has

Well, What i do at Vodafone isnt in the question.
With the speedtest attached it is completely possible to listen to an internet radio and at the same time use wikipedia and other tools commonly used to do homework via. Easily login to a school intranet etc.

Actually go back and check my post. I think you'll find (hint, you will) that I actually trimmed the original message, leaving in the key words you mention immediately above my reply.

People in many areas have a choice, but continue to use copper rather than switching to the faster option available to them because they don't want to pay the price associated with the faster regulated product that's on offer to them.

Well would you pay the price ? . $599 for install from ultimate broadband , $165.50 p/m for 60gb cap and access to voip, oh and plus $199 for voip handset . There are going to be a lot of people sticking with there copper where I am then, $95 p/m for landline and 80gb data cap.

Yup, Expensive. At least you have an option.

Sorry I've not been so active on er my thread for a while, I've bigger things on my mind now as some of you know...

It would be a shame for the thread to be locked although some posters (new and old) are covering the same ground, it is interesting the new posters having input on the same arguments from both sides. 19 pages and 281 comments, lets at least see if we can get over 300 comments.

Some additional angles like Citrix comment from @lswx20 and I think I know who he's talking about. @TimA at @hotrok's speed of 0.33Mb/s let alone the speeds shown on my first post it actually is dificult to listen to a Digitally Imported Premium 256K mp3 stream without it rebuffering when someone goes to say TradeMe and loads a full resolution photo of the latest Lolz Cat framed picture, your more than welcome to come visit and I'll show you, at the same time bring a Wireless RBI test box with you so we can see first hand how good it is as I've yet to find anyone near Outram with it.

It was suggested further up that you could talk to a local provider about improving broadband coverage there, yet you seem to have missed that suggestion?
Where are you planning to send this petition to anyway?

Send to Slingshot, Orcon or alike to deploy UCLL there. (i dont know about vodafone for red Network, pretty sure we stopped enabling it a bit back)

Thats the best hope. I know Chorus will not touch it.

Yes I would, because it's the option that's going to deliver me 10x - 20x the speed I would get on a Conklin.

And like a stuck record I'll say what I say over and over and over again. RBI wireless is a Govt funded deployment with wholesale pricing set by the MBIE and Commerce Commission. If you have an issue with the pricing they're the people to chat to about the issue. Go and express your thought to them and please come back and tell us what they say.
