The consumer facing map isn't working that well either (says the guy posting from his non-existent VDSL connection).

We had our old ADSL connection disconnected for a few months, but it was switched back on a couple of weeks ago. And it was converted to VDSL last week.

Lists my connection as 6mbit, it doesnt handle multiple lines or multiple addresses very well at all.

I asked this question on the Chorus facebook page:

"UFB rollout map?
www.chorus.co.nz/login?redirect=/broadband-options/for-business/broadband-map

You are redirected to this page now. No indication of why a login and password are now required. Someone told me that this google map overlay has been removed.

What is the official word on this please?"

I got this reply:

"Hi, the usage of this map had dropped so low that it is no longer worth us supporting it. Will will now be putting all our efforts into updating our broadband checker to bring further enhancements to it, We expect to release these in the coming months. ^JD" [Jon Dow]

So yes, they've done away with that permanently. Very disappointing! frown

oh well, RIP that page. I  enjoy using it for house hunting to find out all those houses area which fibre available, easy to have an idea just base on the map when scroll out to see the full picture.

Now have to type in address to find it, using the slow way. :(

The interactive map? To scroll around and see nearby broadband coverage?

This interactive map showing all of the chorus New Zealand UFB rollout is the one that I'm talking about. Now removed by our helpful friends at chorus. undecided

Thanks; that seems to work :) (aside from an SSL error, which doesn't really matter anyway since I'm not putting credit card numbers in there!)

I used the tool to look at other properties around my neighbourhood.

Interestingly it appears to be telling me who is disconnected from Chorus (ie on Vodafone Cable), who has got ADSL/2+, VDSL and so on. I know which streets can be connected to fibre vs are actually connected.

Although it would be a mission, it would be possible for a clever ISP with street walkers to target houses and offer them upgrades based on something more solid than a visual inspection.

Because chorus won't refresh the dates from now on?

that are still likely to change dates etc and change colours of areas as they progress, but as mentioned earlier they arent supporting the map any more, so i'm not hopeful that it will be updated as areas are completed or dates change

Seems that the map is still being updated. I noticed that one node that was scheduled to go live here in Palmy in July is now shaded as dark blue, plus the same for two in Whakatane.
