We're after recommendations/experiences on fibre providers (good service, good phone support etc).
Or is everyone bringing up the alarm because everyone is recommending Orcon?

Ben - I gather you are wanting to know what are the best Retail Service Providers (RSP) using a UFB Fibre connection rather than the actual fibre provider (Chorus, Enable etc )
You need to be more specific as the were you are located - as there are differnt RSPs across the country provideing different services depending on location.
Re Alarm - It dosent mater which provider you go with, you will either have to change the way your alarm connects or live with it running over voip (which has already been pointed out can have problems)
Thanks heaps, we're looking for an ISP that provides Fibre internet for business - 100 Down/50 Up/200GB-400gb per month.
We've had issues with trying to get this through Vodafone which has turned us off them - so I was after experiences/recommendations for other ISPs.
I'm a bit confused by some of the responses regarding the alarm but maybe people are saying to separate the services with different providers - although Orcon were adamant that fibre through them meant no analogue lines for anything.
For business internet I prefer to go with a reputable business focused ISP, rather than the jack of all trades ISP that major in residential connections.
You could also look at ICONZ or Vocus (Maxnet) but annoyingly they don't publish plan details on their websites, you have to contact them and deal with the account manager get a quote which I'm not a fan of these days for SMB I want to sign up online to your published plans.
Regarding UFB, don't expect a quick connection there are long delays especially with business connections related to multi tenant buildings, bodycorp and consents. An ISP can request a connection and it will take time for Chorus (who are the UFB provider for Auckland) and their contractors to complete the order.
For example we ordered a UFB connection in Takapuna about 8 months ago still waiting. Two scheduled connection dates have been missed through various issues human or otherwise, eg: building manager was suddenly not available on the day and so on, another time they couldn't complete the fibre run up the central column of the building to our floor and had to come back another time.
These are normal network build/rollout issues... you need to have realistic expectations on connection time frames, if the fibre is not already run into your building right to your office/floor it's "build" work to get it there which is never fast.
Also the business focused ISP's will typically be able to offer services over other "non UFB" fibre like Vector, FX, Telstraclear, Telecom Wholesale fibre or VDSL over non Chorus equipment, depending on what's available to your address/site. If your building has other fibre already to your floor/office get that while you wait for UFB. The price on non UFB connection has come down a lot due to competition from UFB.
