All ISP's connect to the same hardware for broadband delivered by the copper network, The slow down is now caused at ISP level

We are in Thorndon Close, I understand that we are not getting any upgrade. We are considering moving, can you please see what houses in Glen Oak Drive in Kirwee are connected to?

When you say "we should be fine" does this mean there is possibly so etching else going on?

I'd move to Snap if you could assure me of good speeds....

You "should be fine" if you are connected to the exchange. It sounds like you aren't.

No RBI planned there (that I can see), no fibre either. It would pay to check your new address first before moving to see if it would be suitable for you. I couldn't find a street named "Glen Oak Drive" in Kirwee on Google Maps.

What is the actual population of Kirwee township? I don't think it's 1 000 - otherwise I reckon that VDSL (at least) would be available.

In the township there about 1000 homes, so about 3000 people I'd guess.

Asking around town is not really viable....few too many people for that.

All that relevance to ADSL, Yes, Slow internet = poor cellular coverage.

Melissa Watts Ours suddenly got slow too. It was about the same time as videos on Facebook started automatically playing in our newsfeed. I wonder if that would make a difference???I don't understand much of how it works but if every Facebook user in Kirwee has video clips automatically playing every time they log in, I'm imagining it causing more traffic and could be playing a part in slowing thing up?? Or is that just silly!? Lol

Plus it had to land on Vodafone one way or another:
Mandy Johnston It is at a stage where we can't watch you tube videos on Apple TV as well as web pages taking ages to load. NOT GOOD ENOUGH VODAFONE.

Wireless RBI :), Not copper RBI.

I did see this post on that page which I assume is the OP?

Chris Clayton I'm happy to support an initiative that provides faster broadband for all. I too have written to Amy Adams and I see she has announced a recent package for rural customers to get increased broadband. Given Amy is from Kirwee I'm going to write to her last email to me and suggest we get front of queue for some of this funding. In saying that, I'd be willing to contribute $20 per month to get some half decent broadband. We should not have to though as towns like Rolleston, West Melton and Darfield all have good broadband without having to pay anything extra...My most recent email to Amy suggested we need less than $1m to make Dsl2 or better a reality to all in Kirwee township and could she divert or fast track some of the RBI funding to our growing town.

There are much larger towns that are in the same boat as Kirwee, so good luck with that.

Although - (and I think I need sbiddle's help here) if the population of Kirwee is (minimum) 1000, should they not already be in "the queue"? I suspect the resident population is a lot smaller hence why they're not in line for an upgrade to copper.

Chris Clayton is me, the OP.

According to statistics New Zealand there were a little over 3000 usual residents in Kirwee in 2006. It has grown substantially since then post earthquakes.

I am confused by a couple of the posts. In one post so done says it is an exchange problem and not an ISP problem and then JohnR says it is an ISP problem.

Can someone clarify.
