Yep, it's out of whack again.

On the Check Usage page:

 TRAFFIC USED TRAFFIC LIMIT
Anytime 7.87 GB
Total 39.35 %
7.87 GB
20.00 GB

In Detailed View:

16-Jan-20081124.640
17-Jan-2008508.945
Today1390.860
Total8570.086
Total Anytime8570.086

(I cut off the detail at the start - no need for it)

In Detailed View, the date's way off (today's the 21st!), but the usage is more than the general usage meter???

Now they've gone back in time again!

I found something else: (this is under Online Hours)

online hours for [username snipped] between 01-Jan-2008 and 31-Jan-2008

NormalSun Jan 1313:1016:5051:40:34157:50:03
total online hours157:50:03

Ok this absolutely doesn't make sense.

The red highlighted times don't add up. I can't start a new session at 1:10pm on 13 Jan, and end the old session at 1:12pm. I can only make ONE connection at a time.

The green highlighted duration doesn't make sense either. If I have been logged on for 51hr 40min since 1:10pm on 13 Jan, it would be 4:50pm on 15 Jan right now (which matches the 'Finish' time of 16:50). Today's the 21st!!! That's nearly a week!!! Yell

'ask Smiley' was helpful for me, but maybe not in this situation. I would want answers from a person (or maybe the supervisor) pronto!

I am more curious ... than angry until ...... I get throttled

I have not had much luck the last couple of times I have rung .... so I will see if the email yields an appropriate response.

This should be corrected soon as they were still processing the data. The fix time is 4PM which is about now.

hi Firewire,

so what was the problem ???

thanks Blinky

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Yeah, the problem's fixed (except for the hour count), but what's behind this miscount?

Hey blinky,

I really don't know. It might've been corrupted data at a guess.

it seems so called "accurate"(according to call center staff) counter is far from accurate.
it needs to be upgraded or audited by third party.

how come whenever there is problem, customers should let ihug know the problem.
with they say 'you are the one who are at fault' at the beginning of conversation each time.

at least ihug shows us detailed record(even if it is not true data frequently theseday) so that we can discuss the problem here.
what about other companies???

is there anybody who can recommend other ISPs?

I think it is time to consider switching ISP but there are not many choice as far as I know.
maybe that is the reason ihug gets worse in their service.

bjauck: As far as I can see, Ihug data recording is still Kaput! I have been using about 750mb per day split between off-peak and peak times. For the past few days a nil recording has been been entered on their data usage breakdown page. This morning (21st Jan) there was an entry for about 5gb in todays off-peak column (much more than I had used for the past few days). Who audits Ihug's usage recording? Since NZ has such tight data allowances this is an area they need to get spot on. BTW my plan is the now no longer offered to new customers "broadband heavy".

I am too using the old plan "broadband lite". But I've just received a letter from them saying I will be (forced) moved to broadband 3 starting in March. This is not the first time they've done this, but I'm getting a worse deal each time they do this to me. I will have more restrictions then I currently do for $10 more a month. I am paying more for less!!

I am seriously looking at other options. I can't believe this is how they treat a 10 year customer.

Do remember that all of ihug's plans have full speed rather than the 3.5mbps speeds, so it will be more expensive.

If your line cant do more then 3.5 megs, then that is irrelevent.

Also, for those of us that cant get a decent speed then ihugs complaining about cabinetization is enough to make us scream

Those customers who were on 3.5Mbps plans were upgraded to unconstrained speed automatically. You won't notice a speed change.
