if you are one of ihug user, you should constantly check your usage data.

I was shocked after opening today's check usage page since the data usage counter numbers are hugely different from yesterday. (not about yesterday or today's usage but about a week ago's usage)

I phoned ihug and staff at a call center denies any problem of ihug's side and suggested me to check my computer for virus or spyware. (what??? checking ihug's DB error on my computer??? how?)

after hang up the phone, I found out that even the today's date of the ihug's usage screen is wrong.
so I called again this time I was answered by different staff.
I explained all over again.... long waiting, same conversation....

after I pointed out the recorded date is wrong, he consulted with 'manager' and came back to me and told me 'you are not the only one'. he told me the issue will be solved within 24 hours.

why first answered staff denies any problem and accuse customer for their fault?

I hope every usage page to be back to normal but you should check your usage page today just in case.

this kind of stuff happened last year and ihug claiming their usage counter has been upgraded and accurate.

you can find article on the following

Come to think of it, I too am getting suspicious. (I'm also an ihug customer.)

Here is the section from the top of the meter:

Our data tracker, which is updated regularly throughout the day, gives you an idea of how much of your monthly data allowance you've used so far.  (Please remember that it takes some time for any data you've used to display here.  So while we do our best to make sure the data tracker is updated as often as possible and as accurately as possible - there is no guarantee that the information is 100% current at any given time.)

Although it says it
gives you an idea of the data used, it only says that its because of the fact that it doesn't update as fast, and not about the inaccuracy of the measuring of the data transfers.

The usage page also states "Today" after the 15th. Today's the 17th!!!

Yep its gone screwy ..... I check just about every day to avoid being throttled as on broadband 3

mine says 10 Gb
yesterday was about 14 Gb

but the spooky bit was when I first checked this morning it was at 19.5 Gb (20Gb lim)

I tried ringing the call center but they had a 10 min (at least)

thinking its about time to change ISP .....

It's more funny this morning!

My one now thinks that today is 9 Jan, so the meter wiped out the 80% of the 'usage' I used (watching Macworld and those Guided Tours... ahem.) Laughing

I think they're going back in time to rectify the problem - I hope.

UPDATE: Make that wipe 90%!

Here is my one yesterday and today:

I don't really know how ihug sums up our usage.

I'm also getting suspicious over the fact that I too am on bb3!

Also, my meter's date is wrong, but the data is being recorded on the 'Today' field.

So now my one reads:

Today
13.169
Total
1334.887
Total Anytime
1334.887

Ah, if ihug could give an explanation to all of this.

This issue has been fixed. The data has been reprocessed and should read correctly now.

Even if it really has been fixed, the dates are way off.

It thinks that right now is the 10th Jan.

It's getting better - 'Today' is now 16 Jan, and all the reconciled data has been re-recorded.

So here it is: (comparison yesterday left, now right)

So it seems ihug was quick to rectify this after all!

They finished catching up on counting the data on the 16th, and so 'Today' is now the 17th of Jan.

at last my usage data also seems okay now.

when I first contacted ihug call center, I was so annoyed by the staff.
they should have responded more carefully and checked their own system before accusing customers for their fault.

it seems ihug customers on BB3 should copy our own data usage page to prevent ihug staff's claiming their counting is accurate.

anyway good work! ihug for

at the beginning               DENY ANY FAULT and PASS THE PROBLEM TO CUSTOMER
but after second call          AKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM

and finally                        SORTING OUT this matter after all...

thanks for sharing information~ manhinli,blinky,firewire

ihug finally resolved the error.

It's a little strange why only bb3 customers were the ones who seemed to be affected.

As far as I can see, Ihug data recording is still Kaput! I have been using about 750mb per day split between off-peak and peak times. For the past few days a nil recording has been been entered on their data usage breakdown page. This morning (21st Jan) there was an entry for about 5gb in todays off-peak column (much more than I had used for the past few days). Who audits Ihug's usage recording? Since NZ has such tight data allowances this is an area they need to get spot on. BTW my plan is the now no longer offered to new customers "broadband heavy".

true ...

but if your electricity meter or car odometer did the same you would be mighty curious. Especially since they charge per unit.

I think with the Vodafone takeover, that ihug has grown to such a state where it seems to neglect the minority.

ihug is the 3rd largest ISP, so it seemed inevitable.
