Upload speed influences download speed. In general 128k upload limits you to 4000kb/s. This is because your computer has to say 'okay ive got that bit send the next one', and if it cant do that fast enough then download speed is limited.
fls upload = full line speed upload.
chaoscreater:Ya i'm a very large downloader but my question isn't about whether i should stay with Go Large or upgrade to ADSL2, i'm asking what i can do to improve the download speed, such as turning interleaving off, or maybe do some registry tweaks or something.....coz i've done those before.
Interleaving off as mentioned isnt possible on go large and wont help your speeds, only your ping.
Registry tweaks wont do much. TCP Optimizer is the only tweak and that isnt going to affect telecoms shaping of your plan.
chaoscreater: BTW i don't plan on going with ADSL2, it's too expensive for me. I'm happy with Go Large and ya i know of the traffic shaping thing but is there a way to make ur download speed better? Like maybe installing a certain thing in ur house or something? ANYTHING??
You could change to the 10gb plan, your speeds would increase heaps and your price remains the same.

chaoscreater: well not really, there're some tools that actually bosted my internet such as SpeedConnect Internet Accelerator 7.5, it really boosted quite a bit and even tweaking some registry settings helped.
TCP Optimizer is pretty much the only tweak that will speed things up pretty much. Internet accelerators simply compress images etc, they CANNOT increase raw download speeds of files. Accelerators are a waste of time.
honem:Hmmm I wonder if changing the port Bit torrent uses could fool the traffic shaping ? Nuhhh i don't think so - they people you are downloading from will not of changed the port they are uploading through. Telecom could still flag that incoming data as P2P traffic and shape it accordingly.
Nope, its not to do with ports. Their shaping equipment will read the headers and patterns of all packets and be able to identify them. They can even detect torrent traffic within an encrypted VPN tunnel due to how the protocol works with masses of connections and small chunks of data.
Bottom line is you will not speed upyour internet without changing our plan or ISP.
