Well, well.

I just received an email from this company's Chairman (according to a LinkedIn profile page with no additional information or link to any company page).

In essence, I don't think this person likes your comments folks.

Greater Bay Chairman:

I have seen the threatening statements and claims made on your platform

these have been reported to police and if your platform does not remove all statements and block the users from doing this again we will take full legal action

I read this discussion. There are no threats here. There are only opinions and questions. But it seems The Chairman is not keen on criticism.

In my opinion, this is not a company to deal with.

michaelmurfy:

There appears to be HK investors or shareholders here so perhaps some sort of seed fund, who knows.

These are the company's public records:

Before being a Hong Kong-based company, Voncom NZ Limited was registered in New Zealand, but removed from the companies register in 2022:

For what it's worth, as before, I have ordered a circuit to try and suss out what's on offer here.

While it hasn't been delivered yet, when it does, I will post here with what was actually provided to give everyone some insight.

To be continued!

The chairman appears to be a complete muppet. Instead of coming on here and addressing everyone's concerns and using this thread as an opportunity to drive success, they come out guns blazing. I was looking a moving a few of my mobile and broadband connections, if everything was above board, but now I wouldn't go near this company solely based on the chairman's actions.

From 1st Jan, Chorus cost is $38+GST for Home Fibre Starter (50/10), bearing in mind that's the LFC cost alone, not including bandwidth and other overheads.

Also noting that the Greater Bay website advertises the plans as "Max Fibre", which generally terminology would mean Consumer Max which is of course a higher priced service from the LFCs.

I cant wait to hear back from @saf just to see if he gets connected,

I suspect you wont get connected, As a second connection from Chorus on a ONT prepaid service should be able to get connected within 4 hours or at very latest Saturday morning, considering you signed up on Friday. I mean i have spoken to quic on a saturday morning at 9am and been connected by 11:00am same day. That chorus portal is pretty fast.

and if you do who is the real provider behind the scenes. Im guessing we can rule out Vetta ?

Has anyone looked at the fact that VONCOM (NZ) limited is trading in Australia ABN 90 284 230 536 and has be for almost 18 years.

Also I use their eSIM for data and I know the data used is from their Polish connection.

Also did you know the owner used be with Call Australia and Digicall (now Vodafone / TPG) in Australia.

I don' know much about the company but all I can say from the statements on here is people working for our telco's trying to rubbish a new player.

Who knows maybe there are bigger players seeding this company. I heard that someone who grew up in Papatoetoe and was very well known in the industry. maybe doing something but who knows. All I know is I use the eSIM data from these guys and have been doing so for 3 years.  anyone know what is really happening or are we just all coming up with ways to attack someone for the fun of it?

Get to say love the haters and their views. Wonder how come most are from companies that are in the same industry.

saf:

Curiosity has well and truly got the better of me on this one as this is well below LFC cost, so I've ordered the "Home Max" plan as a secondary on my ONT.

Have received an email to confirm my "second HTTP commection", so let's see where this journey goes!

I'll keep you all posted here!

Might be an idea to cancel this order?
