I would like the upload speed to be raised on 300/100 plan.
I use 1000/500 for the upload speed.
So, 300/100 move 500/200 (or better) would be nice for me.

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.
Gosh, remembering back only around 6 years ago when I was in London, our internet speed was so slow at around 50Mbps and upload speed was so slow that it took longer than Amazon AWS Lambda's upload timeout period for a 5MB package.
I remember leaving New Zealand, we were still on 256bps Jetstream in 2018?

in 2012 I had Telstraclear Cable 130/20, I had to fork out a horrendous amount of money back in the day to get a gigiabit router to use the extra 30mbps
in 2014 I moved out of Wellington CBD back to 18/1 ADSL
Moved again in 2017 to Titahi Bay to 9/0.5 ADSL then finally got fibre

They need to stop mucking the RSPs about and just offer the mass market plans as layer 3 connections IMO

We are a regulated wholesale provider and are unable to offer layer3 or above services.
There is zero "mucking the RSPs about" going on here.

Not much discussion, but the other part of the linked consultation was changing 50/10 to 80/40.
That's a very usable increase in both directions.
Yes the 80/40 would suit a lot of people. Not sure whether some of the RSPs (ie the one's with 4G networks) would feel about it though.
I see that Chorus is increasing the price for Home Fibre Starter 50 on 1 st Jan. The price cap that has gone up $5 this month (RSPs were allowed to charge a max of $60pm for the 50/10 plan if they wanted a cheap rate from Chorus) . The new cap is $65pm . So i'm guessing that the proposed 80/40 plan might come with a slight increased cost to the consumer.

I suspect that 4G Networks operators are very much front of mind for Chorus,

100% and with 5G Wireless Broadband now cheaper than 300/100 plans the LFCs are going to have to re-think their strategy
IMHO nothing will EVER beat fiber, I would still take a 50/10 Fiber over a 100/30 VDSL or a 4G/5G connection any day

This is the one that matters the most. 4x performance, and less issues with it choking up because a phone is backing up.
Zero reason to be crippling connections to 10 megabits which is known to make it unusable without some QOS in the router, and the sort of person buying that plan is not going to have the skills to set up their own router so will just blame the internet not working on the kids.

I would hope that it would make them revisit the prices of their mobile data services as they cannot compete with this at peak times with the upload plummeting into single digits in many cases.
I remote to a pc in Perth , Australia and the owner just upgraded their fibre speed to "1gbit" its gets about 920 down, and a useless 40 mbits up speed, So its pretty near unusable for remote desktop usage.

They have a legacy low split cable network that they cant possibly have fiber running at faster speeds than, because that would show that coax is an inferior medium and that would make them have to do FTTP upgrades in those areas.

40Mbps is plenty of speed for a Remote Desktop connection.

I reckon no issues at all
