your connected at 41mbit there, ild suspect a profile issue on your isps side. Generally best way to fix that is to give it a day then call if its still not right - some isps dont switch your profile on their side until the job is "done"

Thanks for the prompt reply :) I figured id give it a few days n see how it settles. Admittedly i was rather excited when i checked the connection info but ultimately rather letdown once i tested the speed lol

just how it goes i guess

ill update as the process continues

to add to this, i would not be surprised if that connection goes 17a.

Ild recommend you get rid of that trash modem slingshot hand out though, its known for having stability issues.

I havent played with that modem to know if it hides it elsewhere.

However at a skim, including basing facts on that you have JUST been installed, Your looking at 8b DLM-1 there.

thanks for all the advice guys

so, if after a few days the speed hasnt gotten better. i need to ring slingshot and ask for/say what exactly?

just im connected at a good clip but the speed is bad?

their CS hasn't been the most uplifting experience in the past and im kinda assuming they're gonna act like they have no clue what to do etc :P

You need to explain that there is an issue with your Profile locking you to ADSL speeds still (although your being locked and a weird rate it seems..) - you Arent testing over wifi by chance?

Your DSL sync is fine.

Your DSL is likely to go up to 17a and jump up faster yes. Although with that modem good chance it wont Due to their stability. - Instability is a flag for DLM to control your connection down to try to "help" it. you should Avoid reboots, disconnections etc of your dsl.

The modem is connecting at 41Mbps so there is something else limiting the speedtest result. If you pick a local server you should be within about 10% of the modem reported speed. Are you using a laptop connected wirelessly or something like that?

Edit: just saw that you are on wireless - that's the issue.
