My own observation is ddDLM is far more active than the old DLM. Some of the changes made by ddDLM might seem a bit random but I am sure there is an algorithm behind ddDLM.

It would like nice for Chorus to publish a white paper on the inner working of ddDLM so that we can all get a better understanding on the rationale behind some of the changes made which appear a bit strange on the surface.

a white paper was promised with their initial release, each time i push chorus i'm no further to getting my hands on that though.

Just a quick question how long does it take to go to the 17a profile? Also our cabinet resets our connection every 3 days. and assigns a new profile. Which I persrevere as the time it takes for the cabinet to go through our line stats and assign a new profile

how long is a piece of string.

i'm not sure there is a direct answer to your question; but more a indirect explanation into `how ddDLM processes lines`

17a can come and go, when i was faulting on my line i'd ping back and forwards like a yoyo.

My fritz has a great habit of pushing my line to 17a.

This is where i must disclose, while modems can force 17a or 8b, please don't do this.

i personally epically broke my line for weeks by doing this - is is possible it was unrelated, and i'm still not convinced but repeatable fault..

One thing you can try, is rebooting multiple times quickly (pulling cable in and out) this seems to have a high probability of changing bandplans.

Likely that will result in possible steps back in your line and is likely as much of a risk as the points mentioned above.

Realistically I'd love if there was a clear answer.
As a rsp staff member i wish i could mess with all the dials too though!

It would be really nice to have a white paper so that we can all understand a bit more of logic behind ddDLM.

ddDLM has been very active on my line to the point of almost daily resync and changing sync speed. It has gone to and fro - 45 Mbps to 62 Mbps down stream and up is around 18 to 22 Mps. Just when I thought ddDLM is happy with around the 53 -55 MBps mark because the CRC error rate is quite low, early this morning it changed my sync speed to 45Mpbs from 53 Mbps.

I am quite perplex at the logic behind ddDLM. It seems to bounce between 45 and 62 and can't seem to make up its mind.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Modem reset this morning with the upstream SNR ratio dropped to 4.4dB and which has not changed speeds at all. apart from that nothing else had changed

Likely resync at 6dB, noise floor increased back up and your SNR dropped down a tad.

Yeah I noticed the same thing last night. We had a power outage during the day. When it came back it resynced higher than usual but by the time I checked it when I got home, SNR was down around 4.4dB and the attainable speed was back at the expected level. Also, back on 8b.

Yep will happen; it's the network working as expected.
Long as your line isn't terrible; you will be fine to hold that sync

So, been away for the last week or so..

Sadly ddDLM didn't make the moves i was hoping to capture while away, infact it held totally stable.

Glad i didn't come home to anything being broken!

ddDLM seems to have finished with me, 2 weeks ago last resync happened and not a sausage since
Had hoped for some more line tweaking as I'm still on 900+ Interleave depth

and there goes ddDLM. down to 4-1ms which honestly i think is a great balance..

strange that one of the connections jumped back to 12dB but i was kinda suspecting that was going to happen based off the attainable.

also very weird time for ddDLM to kick in, think my DSLAM was due for software update last night though so makes sense.
