Are you able to post some pics of the connections you've made? Assuming all the right wires are connected in the right places, my next step would be to re-terminate each and test until I found the one causing the problem.

Hi Fellas,

Yep started again and bingo, No improvement really over my connection woes with my ISP.

So problem must lie within their network, Im thinking of changing ISP and getting VDSL.

Any advice on this?

Cheers

what do you think is wrong with your connection? its connected at 14/1 which is not to bad.

if you get VDSL they will install a dedicated jack point or if using a home distributor they should be able to connect it into that for phone and internet.

VDSL speeds would be in the 30's on the old band plan, but with the upgrades could be in the 50's and 10-13 up.

Hi Jase,

Thanks for that, i have had bad packet loss and sometimes itermittent connectivity.

dont know if the CGNAT the ISP uses has something to do with this?

In your experience is there any ISP that i should choose that could provide me with the best vdsl experience?

Do they need a special jackpoint if i have structured cabling and RJ45 outlets already installed?

CGNAT shouldn't be causing these problems if done correctly. Is your DSL dropping at all? Or is the connection still up but you get no data flow?

Nope, and the technician will thank you for an easy job.

You have a downstream attenuation of 18db (presumably measured after the re-wiring) which is rather high for VDSL - regardless of which ISP you choose.

The Attenuation of 18db was measured prior to the wiring and has remained unchanged after the wiring was done.

However my Attainable rate has changed considerably if you compare to last stats post, what is gpoing on here?

Looks like a fault.

If you are in the area for VDSL, just order it from an ISP that does the wiring and let them take care of it all. If they cant deliver VDSL then at least you know that the wiring is as good as it will get for ADSL. If you are having to bother your neighbours to access the wiring then I am sure they would appreciate not being bothered all the time by you checking it etc.

the only part of the wiring in my neighbours roof is the line entry point, of whcih cat5e has been connected to my unit.

If there was a problem there i surely wouldnt have any connection? (only 2 wires)

What could be the cause?
