IMHO the 30/10 (50/20 chorus) plan is more than ample for most households.

Silly statement really. There are so many riders on this eg number of people in the household and what they do eg stream or game.

I'm going to upgrade to 40Gbps at home from 10Gbps recently, waiting for switch coming. $200 for 4Gbps is not too bad if you work at home. The price will drop sooner or later. Korean and China has proved faster internet is good for economy and innovation.

Can get in Wellington already, but can't justify the price atm. Orcon is the only ISP that's providing Fibre 4000 atm. Nobody is doing 2000 yet afaik.

So any ISPs/Chorus want me to be their Hyperfibre guinea pig in Wellington?

I won't be satisfied 'til my internet needs a flux capacitor to run.

Completely inadequate. Guinea pig. They will have to provide everything else for testing. :)

I'm holding out for Hyperfibre availability on the BSY (Browns Bay) exchange in Auckland to go and pick up a MikroTik CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS.

Right now I have a CRS309-1G-8S+IN on my desk, and a CRS328-24P-4S+RM + RB3011 in a rack. The RB3011 is obviously the limiting factor with only Gigabit capabilities but everything else is ready to go.

Just wish I lived in Avondale/Birkenhead/Ponsonby to take up Hyperfibre right now ๐Ÿ˜ž

@Chorusnz any idea if BSY will be getting Hyperfibre any earlier than the September UFB1 general availability date?

@ozonenz that sucks that you canโ€™t get it yet, but just wait and youโ€™ll be able to catch up on the time wasted downloading stuff in no time :D

Still a bit of a rip off at the moment.

Orcon 199 for 4 gigs

MyRepublic 149 for 2 gigs and 179 for 4 gigs

Chorus website initially claimed "small premium" when asked about how much that will cost. That line is gone now.

"small premium" my arse.

@mezla1058 You honestly think that is a rip off? Are you kidding or just trying to make some silly joke

2Gbp/s and 4Gbp/s each way this pricing is amazing
