Regarding the rest of the discussion, a full list of past companies the owner is associated with https://www.companyhub.nz/dirshrSearch.cfm?name=BIRD%2C+Paul+James+Samuel, all removed - without digging into all of them, since Panda called out Voncom, that one is listed in https://gazette.govt.nz/notice/id/2022-ds4875 (intention to remove for not carrying on business - presumably due to lack of filing).

panda69nz:

Has anyone looked at the fact that VONCOM (NZ) limited is trading in Australia ABN 90 284 230 536 and has be for almost 18 years.

Can't be trading too much, according to https://abr.business.gov.au/ABN/View/90284230536 it isn't even registered for GST (so less than AU$75k turnover/year) doesn't really scream big business to me.

I don' know much about the company but all I can say from the statements on here is people working for our telco's trying to rubbish a new player.

I'll take an assumption here and guess this comment was either partially or completely steered towards myself.

I'm not rubbishing a new player in this thread, and would be wrong of me to do so without first seeing the service first hand, which is why I ordered a connection myself to provide context and actionable information once service is given, rather than working on assumptions.

As part of my day to day role, I work with and have provided many ISPs operating in the market with go-to-market strategy advice and consultancy, both commercial and technical, however offering an uncontracted service at well below the LFC cost for the plan (not taking into account backhaul, bandwidth, staff and overheads) is certainly a new one, no-one can blame the public in this forum for being skeptical and apprehensive.

Ultimately proof is in the pudding, and when the connection I've ordered does come online, I'll provide an honest response here to whether the service actually does what it says on the tin.

The ASIC site went down while I was doing some searches, but noticed that Greater Bay Telecom, Panda Communications and so on have appeared on the Australian registries too.

ABN Registration for Greater Bay https://abr.business.gov.au/ABN/View?abn=24996355181 says 'Active from 03 Oct 2017' and sole trader (will be curious what https://connectonline.asic.gov.au/RegistrySearch/bySearchId.jsp?searchIdType=BUSN&searchId=662822648 shows when I stop getting SSL Protocol Errors from it).

I'm now curious as to what is required to avoid the Australian authorities removing business registrations, NZ is seemingly quite strict.

Also I use their eSIM for data and I know the data used is from their Polish connection.

Also did you know the owner used be with Call Australia and Digicall (now Vodafone / TPG) in Australia.

I don' know much about the company but all I can say from the statements on here is people working for our telco's trying to rubbish a new player.

Who knows maybe there are bigger players seeding this company. I heard that someone who grew up in Papatoetoe and was very well known in the industry. maybe doing something but who knows. All I know is I use the eSIM data from these guys and have been doing so for 3 years.  anyone know what is really happening or are we just all coming up with ways to attack someone for the fun of it?

Get to say love the haters and their views. Wonder how come most are from companies that are in the same industry.

This you?

I'm not addressing my statement to anyone. I have been in the industry from 1991 and worked across the glob. I have worked with one of the seed funders.

And as for the person with the statement of mental health. I have a close family member who has mental health issues but also got his PhD and works in the IT industry for a FINTECH so maybe the attack in statements re mental health would have to bring into question why???

Next will something else be attacked on a personal level.

I just think its so funny what people write and say about others. Are we really going to just attack people because we don't a real life and need to feel importance because we attack mental health or another company.

Nobody is here to personally attack anyone as that would be against the FUG.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and criticism however. How you defend that is entirely up to you.

Hi Paul, hows it going ? No point hiding the fact. Youre using a username closely aligned with one of your old companies.

Why the hiding ? Why cant you just answer peoples queries about the pricing etc ? If you can honestly supply full speed Fibre for $35, then wow. But we just doubt it since even Chorus struggle to offer 50Mbps at that price.

This is certainly a market disrupting offer. I look forward to the review of the max UFB service when it is supplied.

@Linux asked:

Linux: How are you related to the business?

The reply was:

@panda69nz: no I'm not but I am ex Call Australia staff and I have heard things

This is not true. I can say @panda69nz is linked to the company., based on the email identification data included when the message was sent to me.

In my opinion @panda69nz, is a Sock puppet account - Wikipedia and therefore not engaging in good faith.

From Wikipedia: A sock puppet is a false online identity used for deceptive purposes. The term originally referred to a hand puppet made from a sock. Sock puppets include online identities created to praise, defend, or support a person or organization, to manipulate public opinion, or to circumvent restrictions such as viewing a social media account that a user is blocked from. Sock puppets are unwelcome in many online communities and forums.

Again, in my opinion, I wouldn't touch this company or its services.

Sorry but I stand by my original comments - how could a legitimate business (as in an entity that intends to drive a profit) offer services at these prices (below the price of even a single input cost)? Unless the intent is to jack prices up later (perhaps as a limited time offer), this simply makes no sense.

@panda69nz, I guess you never heard of the Streisand effect - Wikipedia?

The Streisand effect is an unintended consequence of attempts to hide, remove, or censor information, where the effort instead increases public awareness of the information.

The effect is named for American singer and actress Barbra Streisand, whose attorney attempted in 2003 to suppress the publication of a photograph showing her clifftop residence in Malibu, taken to document coastal erosion in California, inadvertently drawing far greater attention to the previously obscure photograph.

Attempts to suppress information are often made through cease-and-desist letters, but instead of being suppressed, the information sometimes receives extensive publicity.
