FYX: Sounds promising for the both of you then ...

Brilliant! So you're strongly insinuating that in a week or 2, you'll be involved with a completely legal way for broadband users in NZ to stream the 2012 Formula 1 races, live.

I can't wait!

If it's not VPN then my guess is going to be some kind of virtual desktop hosted in the US which you can log into to watch Netflix, Hulu etc etc.

Although, there is also this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Mode

"Global Mode is a generic term used by the FYX service in New Zealand to describe a process of geographical IP restriction circumvention. When Global Mode is used, subscribers will generally find that more of the internet becomes available to them.Typically, the websites that become available are ones that are blocked due to the type of content they provide. This content usually has geographical restrictions placed on it due to arguably incumbent distribution licenses. In other cases, these restrictions are enforced to reduce the amount of expensive international traffic they have to buy. Global Mode operates in a way that doesn’t increase the providers international traffic requirement.

Global Mode does not guarantee access to any particular or specific websites or content, but works to improve the overall accessibility of content from around the world."

I'm not sure about this though, as far I as know their is no way to watch F1 online with or without VPN. So that makes me think it is something a bit different to that. Who knows though.

How about watching English football with this new service, is that going to be possible?

also, given the poeple who follow it on twitter, and their tweets, pretty safe to assume something to do with Maxnet.

Ok, with my best hat on for drawing a long bow on things, here is my best guess:

Maxnet are launching a 1TB plan that somehow comes with a service called Fyx which gives you not only a NZ IP address, but also a US one and a UK one that you can switch between at will. Then if you want to sign up to Netflix, iPlayer etc you can easily do it.

these are the links to the last three images on the fyx.co.nz page (I might have missed one out)

If anyone can work out from that the next ones then be my guest, or if there is even a pattern

(the current one doesn;t work properly since they put .jpg.jpg in there twice so it broke the site)

I'm already using unblockus dns for access to streaming services, but it would be nice to have a faster international speed for netflix HD streaming. I think 5mbit is the minimum but I barely manage 4mbit to USW servers on speedtest.
