Athlonite: Woke up to find another little surprise instore for me my download sync went up to 40323Kbps but upload stayed at crappy 7017Kbps ahwell maybe one day UFB will come past my door and I can kiss the crappy copper good bye forever

you may be between the first and the second change at that kind of time.  my second change happened after 4 am..

the second change boosted speeds more than the first for me.

this is the second boost in DL sync speed in a week it went from 24.9 >> 39.4 >> 40.3 but UL has stayed the same well virtually the same it has lost 3Mbps from when I first had VDSL installed it gone down from 10 >> 8.9 >> 7.1 which I didn't think 998 was supposed to do

998 is MORE assymetric that 997, so it's no surprise that upload CAN go down.

It went up for many people because there was an artificial ~10Mbps cap on upload with 997.

Cheers - N

So by using speed test.net I was artificially getting 9.5+ Mbps upload speed then, if for nearly 2 years I ran with 10Mbps upload perfectly fine why would it then go down and not up with the 998 band plan change should it not atleast have tried going up first before going down

You've massively misunderstood me. Some people will get upload reductions and that is expected.

less of the frequency spectrum is used on the 998 bandplan change but there was less margin for error for most users bumping up speeds of upload a little compared to what would have happened anyway.  It then adapts depending on stability of line.

Usually it still seems that there's 10 to 20% off what was attainable before though.

well that's just strange considering Most and I stress the word most of the VDSL connections I've seen in here have had massive upward jumps in upload sync and considering my UL has been pretty much error free in day one I was surprised to see such a poor upload sync compared to the doubled download sync

any idea what your attainable was before?  people on 11 megabit etc probably had attainables of 12 megabit+ before, rather than only just hitting 10 megabit.  it's really only the 17a connections doing good on upload.  but 8b is doing pretty damn good on download all things considered.

My speed download changed very recently, I am happy with the result although i wish my upload speed would go up as well . Something for nothing is good so i shouldn't complain

speed listed in my sig is my old usual speed

Well that's just crap then isn't it I'd rather go back to 997 and my 10Mbps upload

My attitude was I was quite happy with the 10Mbps upload I had and I've never had a 17a profile so knew from day one 8b was all I was going to get and for the most part it was perfectly fine

I like you am on a longer line, so also saw a good boost in downstream sync (29 to 43 or so) with a small drop in upload (10 to 8) - to be expected.

Everything you've been told above is correct.  Personally, while I do like extra upstream, realistically most of what the average consumer uses their connection for is download, so I'll happily take a large boost in downstream sync for a small loss in upstream.

Looks like I just got upgraded too.
From 40/10 (with 40/40 attainable) it shoot up to 74/24.

Now I don't mind waiting 2+ more years for UFB :)

has anyone else found that INP settings seem to go up more readily than they used to?  one of my connections is on INP 2 now, and error count wasn't that high.. still has the same interleaving as migration day.

wondering if that's what people are seeing when they see sync rates going down over time, it reduces sync speed qutie a bit on INP 2..

curiously my other connection is on INP 0.

I was about to ask this, I started on DLM-2/4 with INP 0/1 then it resynced a few days later with DLM-4 INP 1/1 and now I'm sitting at DLM-6 INP 2/2.
My line is pretty clean no CRC errors and I don't see many other errors so I wonder what DLM is doing.

Also is it just me or am I the only one experiencing 20 SNR on the downstream (hitting 70 Mbps tho) and 8 SNR on the upstream?
