In a conversation Cloudflare co-founder and CEO dropped this, regarding the POP being active but no announcement yet... Wonder which ISP but I have my suspicions:

They'll be wanting to announce networks when their press release goes out, so yeah, they'll be waiting until they get 2 of the big three live.
My bet would be VF will be the problem one. Orcon is live (presumably Callplus also), Spark shouldn't be too much problem.

I think Spark won't join the party.

Publius: One thing to bare in mind is that although Cloudflare is peered at the Auckland Peering Exchange (APE), an ISP is still required to contact them directly to establish a bilateral peering session to get any of their CDN content.

In other words, just because an ISP is on APE doesn't guarantee that their traffic will be going to Cloudflare's Auckland pop.

In other news, Orcon is now working.

traceroute to www.geekzone.co.nz (162.159.242.82), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets
1 myrouter (192.168.1.254) 0.151 ms 0.189 ms 0.181 ms
2 60-234-16-125.bitstream.orcon.net.nz (60.234.16.125) 0.640 ms 0.623 ms 0.615 ms
3 cloudflare.ape.nzix.net (192.203.154.51) 0.797 ms 0.795 ms 0.791 ms
4 162.159.242.82 (162.159.242.82) 0.583 ms 0.707 ms 0.760 ms

Not much to complain about there!

checking ip addresses of a site i setup on cloudflare, i see 198.41.237.7 for peered ISP, 108.162.250.222 for Telecom.  108.162.250.222 is advertised over both equinix sydney and at ape (by vocus).  so if a nz site chooses to use cloudflare even with 50% of traffic going international still, then at least they shouldn't pay for international transit to Telecom.

Good to see Cloudflare now includes Auckland in the POP/Status list. Bad to see the "official" announcement hasn't happened yet because "unnamed large ISP" hasn't done their homework yet.

I was told in November that Vodafone would peer with Cloudflare. It hasn't happened yet.

Is that all of Vodafone, or the bits of Vodafone that aren't ex-TCL?

their peering is actually better in NZ than in the US.  i wouldn't worry too much about sydney, it's pretty close.

but if it really bothers you, Vodafone would be the party to contact.
