No it's not (at least directly). It's about using the courts and the legal system to block access to 'pirate sites'. This has been legislated in many countries, including Australia and the United Kingdom.

It is not the business of the courts and legal system to block access to any sites. This is a conflation of the copyright mafia which is trying to abuse the legal system to serve their own purposes. The business of the courts and legal system is to enforce the law. Streaming pirated content is against the law. It should be prosecuted. This is a completely separate issue from access blocking and should be kept that way.

An FYI, this 'could care less' thing is an American thing which now seems to be leaking. The correct saying is 'I couldn't care less'

Saying 'I could care less' implies that you care enough to be able to care less.

Sorry to be that guy, I know it doesn't have anything to do with the topic. It's one of the only things that annoys me.

Along with saying 'one of the only'. Which also annoys me.

2. People who don't like Sky, but begrudgingly subscribe at high cost as it is the ONLY option to legally watch sport in godzone.

There are at least two GZ users who seem to defend Sky's every move and think their business model is the only viable way kiwis will get sport on TV.

I'd put them in a third category of people who like Sky

Most likely that third category is people who work for Sky

My thoughts entirely, to answer the question I was asked.

Rugby existed in NZ before Sky. It will exist after Sky. If Rugby NZ is as bad as Sky at adapting to the existence of the internet, then they have a tough road ahead of them.

You're forgetting the extra $10 a month just to see things in an obsolete HD format, and also them re-encoding the internet you get to an absurd frame rate, also if you want internet on more than one of your computers thats another $15 a month.

A quick A/B comparison for available streams on a "popular streaming platform" indicate 30 to 40 times the number of available streams once a VPN is enabled.

QoS seems to be also applied with local ISP streams continually caching - then after a VPN is switched on - no issues whatsoever.

I was discussing this issue with a friend just last night - I'm basically now thinking of shifting ISP.

Those ISP's most vocally decrying Sky's behaviour would be at the top of my new ISP prospects - the quiet ones conversely signalling their potential complicity in this mess.

This is extremely unlikely on the ISP's end, but feel free to post the streaming device/service/ISP and see if anyone can replicate it.

I assure you that was my experience two nights ago, but it would be unfair to criticise my current ISP without the behaviour being consistent. Over the coming weeks I will track the behaviour, and the next time it happens I will grab screenshots. :)

When I checked again just now the available streams were much closer to each other when I did the comparison..
