what a surprise eh?

their peering is actually better in NZ than in the US.  i wouldn't worry too much about sydney, it's pretty close.

While sydney is 'fine' ild much rather get into cloudflares network and out of vodafones as quickly as possible ;)

It is official now: Cloudfare announced Auckland and Melbourne.

Note Vodafone peering is still lacking as I was told there was a delay with the Cricket World Cup in the middle of many projects.

Note that last paragraph the stab a Spark for not peering. Apparently they don't even look if it is under a certain level and Cloudflare, according to this criteria, doesn't meet the requirements for peering...

I know it's probably a political thing, but is it really that hard to setup and maintain peering? I'm glad I'm with an ISP (Snap) that understands the importance of peering.

My website is super fast on snap, now there's an Auckland POP. It seems big carriers don't want to peer unless there's something in it for them - making things faster for their customers doesn't seem to be a consideration. Vodafone doesn't seem competent at routing in general.

Indeed. These are all reasons why going with the largest providers is a bad idea. You get a much better service in every way from Callplus down, albeit once you get to the very long tail of micro ISPs (>1000 customers) quality can sometimes go downhill again as they dont have the scale needed to implement good systems/processes/etc.

John, does this include all your services like cable and not just your xdsl/fibre?

There was a post a few days ago that indicated VF are changing their network away from being a blue/red network like it is currently.

Is the Vodafone mobile network included or just the fixed line? Vodafone mobile network still seems to route to SYD.

Vodafone having trouble with routing? I don't believe it! ;) Maybe it's like DNS, there's a delay between it being set up and it starting working.
