Historically DLM could not manage the spectrum change between 8b/17a (and back again). So This selection was based on loop (electrical) length only.
Also - don't forget 8b has higher power.

The new dd-DLM is able to manage the spectrum switch.

DLM hasn't been holding everyone back, a DLM upgrade has allowed us to change the way we do things in this space.

Bmarquis doesn't spout rubbish, so i can certainty trust what has been said.
I'd say possibly some refining to the 17a selection may be ideal.

Although tbh the example above I'd be happy with! But then I'm not joe blogs who only cares for downstream.

I'd be happy with that. I agree with hio - I never sit around waiting for a download to finish, but low upload stops me from doing things I'd really like to do. Stoked that more lines are going to 17a, I'm certain my line is better suited for it than 8b and it's been frustrating that up til now it hasn't even attempted the jump.

I'd be happy with that upload increase :)
This kind of feedback is invaluable - I'm interested in peoples thoughts of what you would prefer.

Its unlikely you'll have a perceptible difference in that small downstream change, but you'll definitely notice the upstream improvement if you upload/back stuff up.

If DLM notices that the lower power on 17a is causing more bit errors or instability, it is likely it will change you back to 8b. However, I'd agree with DLM *if* it leaves your line in this state - it looks like a valid performance increase to me.

Do you have a splitter install? with that upload, I would think you should have a faster download speed. Check your home wiring if you can.

Net went down for a while, its back now.

Yes, this copper is working soooooo well. Is new dlm rolled out to outside kapiti or is this just one of the periodic terrible syncs that seem to come up with dsl.

Ouch. That sucks. My copper went like this when the seasons changed and it forced my hand at changing to fibre.

Any idea when Tauranga is getting this new DLM?

Mine resync'd overnight too. Wish it hadn't. Download speed has dropped significantly from 48Mbps to 18Mbps. Line profile now on 17a and I think previously was on 8b

Should I reboot the router? I seem to recall that the previous advice was not to do that as it messed up the DLM training.

If I was getting 70/30 prior to the rollout, is it likely I will stay there, or is there a potential speed boost in there for me? Given rollout has started, is it somewhat likely I'd have seen any changes if they were going to occur, or is it spread out so I might get mine later?

As I understand it, certain gear can get 100/50, but if I am getting 70/30 (Which it's been like that since the last major upgrade), that is the limit of the gear I am attached to?

Don't get me wrong, I am very grateful for 70/30, however faster is always nice.

According to @hio77, Ikano cards can only do 70 down and 30 up max. Broadcom can do 100 down and 50 up. I "was" in the same position as you. I will post my numbers soon.

Well, my upload dropped almost 50% after the change. Was on 70/30, now 69/17.
