No change so far on Spark Business Fibre - still symmetric 500
As expected? Only the 300/100 and 50/10 products are being changed with LFCs.

Old ladys' connection with Voyager updated on Wednesday.
Still waiting here for my own connection with Quic.
Both in Invercargill.
EviLClouD:
On Spark and my speed test bursts to 400+ but then drops and finishes around 350.
Same for me. Still on 300 I believe (and the old HG router too). Poor thing will start smoking at 500 😬
I was woken about 0730 one day last week by a phone call which had dead air when I answered, and I was just putting it down when a voice began to speak. I missed who the caller was/claimed to be but the gist was "we're upgrading your broadband and you need a new router, press 1 to arrange a time to deliver it". I hung up and reported it as a possible scam to One (my ISP) and asked if it was genuine but no response.
Having now read this thread, can anybody confirm whether this router upgrade is real? I don't want to join the hold queue forever. I was still Speedtesting 300M/100M at the time with a VF Ultrahub.

You do not need a new router. You will not find a post here where the speed upgrade caused a service failure because of your existing router.
For future reference - if your upgraded speed is faster than the speed rating of your WAN cable to the router or router WAN port then an upgrade of cable and router is desirable but not necessary.

I know this, I'm trying to determine if the call is definitely a scam to warn others.

It sounds like the typical Spark/Microsoft/Chorus 'tech support' scam but pivoted towards the upgrade to try and make it more believable. Scammers will literally do anything to convince you to hand over credit card details or access to your devices.
I would image if One felt a legitimate need to contact customers about that, there'd be something on the monthly bill, or they'd send emails and have information on their website.
However it's worth noting that the speed upgrade, every router distributed by them in the last 5+ years would comfortably handle the upgraded speeds. It'd be a different story if one of the upgrades was to gigabit or multi-gigabit.
So yeah, it'll be a scam in all likelihood.
Looks like Spark has announced a $5 increase to their fibre plans and $8 increase to fibre + netflix plans from 1 August.
Will be interesting to see who else follows suit.
So much for a ‘free’ speed increase lol

Yes I got that too, I note they didn't specifically tie the price rise to the speed increase though.
It's probably to combat the amount of people that will downgrade from 500/100 (was 300/100) to 100/20 (was 50/10). I know I will be as I don't need much more than 100Mb down.

More likely the Netflix increase.
Don’t they increase their prices every year?

Yeah, isn't it something to do with the LFC raising their prices?
My Spark fibre has hit 500mbps. Not sure when it flipped. Just checked it. Orkland.
