Chorus own the exchange / hardware you are connected to, They are the ones that need to do the upgrade

Unless you put in ULL equipment?

Not all exchanges are UCLL capable. Even if the exchange was, the cost for equipment and backhaul into there would likely mean VF would be losing money on every customer they serviced if they charged the same regular prices due to the small population.

To be fair sbiddle, the OP did contact Amy Adams, his local MP. But I think you mean the Commerce Commission would make more of a difference eh?

UBA broadband is a fully regulated offering with all aspects of the product set by the Commerce Commission. The service level being received by the OP vastly exceeds the service obligations for UBA that are set in place by the Commerce Commission which therefore leads to only one conclusion - they need to be told that people don't believe their regulated product offering meets people's needs in 2014.

The Commerce Commission are largely an inept organisation that people mistakenly believe has a goal of delivering the best deal for end consumers which is ultimately not correct. Their goal is only to ensure adequate completion exists in a marketplace. These are two very different things.

Ild also have to say... your testing methods are a little iffy.

all tests should be done over Ethernet, rather than your over wireless on your IPad.

keeps possible other interferences out of the equation.

Yes it meets the requirements of 0.032Mbps delivered over a 15 minute average, almost by a factor of 8.

As pointed out any testing over WiFi is also meaningless due to the problems associated with WiFi. Any testing should only be done over cabled Ethernet. Is there a possibility that some of your problems are actually WiFi related?

Blows it out of the water speed could drop half again and it's still well above minimum requirement

I know nothing will probably come of my suggestion, but has any of the residents approached Enable Networks in Christchurch to see if they would consider expanding their network.

Simply out of interest myself, ild like to hear a response on iver of these too.

sbiddle is constantly suggesting to go down that route, ild hope it doesnt fall on deaf ears.
