I'm very jealous.
I've had fibre since 2015. A mate who lives just up the road (who works from home and has his own home server, stuck on 10MB/s ADSL) is just getting fibre now. He's a great candidate for it and I think he'll be placing his order in the first week it's available.
I see there are a few articles about exact dates for UFB2+ over the weekend.

Does this mean dates are finalised across the country or only a few areas?
Gisborne too

I am pinging my Chorus acct mgr now.
Mackenzie:
Twizel 2020
Fairlie 2021
Tekapo 2022
We expected to be near the end, but still gutted!
Would have expected if something has gone live, chorus would have done a big stir stir annoucement, I haven't seen one in my inbox yet...

Any word on Canterbury? Presume it will follow Enable rollout using same engineers?
We at Mackenzie District Council only received our own dates. I've spoken with Chorus who confirmed that emails were sent to all relevant councils last week. I guess some councils are faster than others at getting the info out publicly.
I'm presuming that once Councils have had the initial heads up, a more general public announcement will follow.

were you getting it before UFB2+?
if not how can you be gutted about getting it? there are people on UFB1 that wont get it till 2020
Perhaps I should clarify.
Of course we are delighted to be getting fibre - we are very aware that in rural areas nothing is guaranteed when it comes to infrastructure investment from central government. Twizel and Tekapo were included in 2 and Fairlie in 2+.
The comment was intended to be tongue in cheek - like most people, I'm sure, we would love to have had fibre sooner but expected because of our small community sizes to be towards the end, if not at the end, of the roll out.
So, the latest update i have had from Chorus is they have dates mapped out for the next 24 months but beyond that there is less certainty.
Apparently they are trialing a process in Hokitika where they will install an ONT in every house regardless of whether they will be contacted to fibre. The benefits for this are fairly obvious in terms of speed to install beyond this and more importantly they do not need to keep visiting each town to trench new installs as this would have already been completed.
Not sure if there is any other update out there?
