woo! WAK/C is getting a card upgrade towards the end of the month ;)

Question is, What's the difference between a normal vectoring card and a Cambiar/Dayside card? or is it simply the "rural" Classification?...

I am pretty sure Cambiar is just there internal project name and Dayside just means during the day time.

All the new VDSL cards are the same, there just replacing a lot of older VDSL cards

They appear to be upgrading far more than just the bare minimum.

The vectoring toggle simply won't happen on excluded areas.

Atleast in these the 70/30 limit will be no more.

I would have thought they would upgrade all suitable lines with Vectoring as by the time UFB2+ is completed (best case 4 years from now) it is probable the entry level plan will be 200/200 or 1Gb so any VDSL implementation will seem slow meaning the chorus customers in the time between will get the best possible experience.

in an ideal world, right this modem vectoring would be everywhere and a baseline.

sadly we don't live in that world, Profits do control things to a point.

Chorus's limitations on a 'golive' network wide, is really the fact that the comcom has said no vectoring in X and Y locaitons etc.

Vectoring itself won't be getting toggled straight away sadly, as chorus are still working through teething stuff.

Great question.

as i understand in, G.INP was one of the parts that are touch and go with the test areas...

IMO, G.INP improves a ton, and should be deployed everywhere asap. But Vectoring also is leaps and bounds.

in my stats, lines have gone from averaging 2K errors a day to 1-2 errors While improving, Now that's a solid result.

This goes in tomorrow at some stage.

my temptation to go bug the poor @chorusnz techs when the card goes in for photos out of curiosity..

Vectoring won't be turned on when it goes in sadly, but i'm interested to see what difference the card makes if any - I'm expected atleast a minor change just as if you switched modems...

regardless, monitoring has been turned up to the hilt on my end. see what interesting changes and blips i see...

ddDLM will then get it's turn to play with my lines again *shudders*

lastly, how about another trial location to see if things are all sorted ehhh ;) Give me a reason bump my ADSL link up to VDSL with that G.INP and Vectoring goodness...

Looks like line is rocking a very similar broadcom based linecard.

downtime was sub 2 mins, Impressive work.

Hard to discuss statistical changes on lines, as one was running at 5dB (power cut and synced fast) and the other had a ddDLM movement with the card switching.

I was expecting to see ddDLM be reset and all lines go to default state but seems not.

Statistically, error rates have dropped but that's once again hard to say if related to snr changes, bin allocation, remade connection etc.

So interesting development. my lines seem to be operating ddDLM movements at 9.05am every day...

Wonder if a clock is set wrong....
