hio77:
Signal Attenuation (SATNpb-0): 6.5 dB
Signal Attenuation (SATNpb-1): 27.3 dB

Interesting, that looks like the kinds of stats that JamesL was seeing on his Zytel...

hio77: ok, lets see who can break it this time.. since i dont have a Fritz OS 4.0 box to test with, wouldnt be surprised if something broke there now!

Works perfectly for me still :)  I'm still on the older 99.05.22 firmware.

Man, if we can get those additional figures you're discovering like line length (assuming it's accurate), this little tool is going to be AWESOME for diagnosing lines!!

WOO! working on both!

theres 2 elements in the sar interface which seem to refer to lengths, electricalLength and lineLength... im yet to find a single way to access that though, it doesn't seem to be exposed to queries  or im picking the wrong checks..

tempted to add a first config element, if telnet is available.. hopefully i dont have to go to that stage though.. its not exactly a reliable service on the firtz(ironic aint it..)

anyone who toys around with telnet, dont touch /bin/supportdata it spits EVERYTHING at you.

I had a faulty vdsl modem for the first 8 days of my Snap new connection. When I eventually received a working vdsl modem I synced on profile "8b" .

After being connected for 5 weeks I was still on profile 8b so I asked Snap for a port reset .

5 days after the port reset I got kicked into profile 17a. So, the port reset did in 5 days what the last 5 weeks of normal dlm did not.

So, my speed is now 66/10, attenuation increased from 2 to 4 for some reason, and CRC errors have been all but eliminated (pre 17a it was around 5-8 errors every 15 minutes, now it is 0 or 1).

I've not done any tweaks on the fritzbox.

So, now I'm just waiting for Snap to offer UFB in Tauranga :) My fibre connection has been ready to go since last September but it appears red tape is more a block (in Tauranga) than the physical connection.

Ok so mine was actually 5 days after DLM it went to 17a. I think we need another test but it seems like Chorus because of VDSL coming out of trial they have changed so all new connections if possible will go on 17a profile. Does anyone else have a connection less than say 8dB who has been on DLM-1 but not 17a for a few months want to get a port reset to see if 5 days later you will get 17a?  Can you post your Spectrum Graph Surf?

im sitting at 9db (be it my line isnt sparkling) but iv considered a getting a port reset on mine, just to see what DLM feels like doing..

how happy are snap to issue resets? (when i was at home, before chorus fixed something along the road, we would need a reset after ever disconnect.. vodafone werent happy to go head and reset ports so not sure if its the same case here..)

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Yep, included both.  I didn't expect the reduction in errors, would have thought that a higher speed would be more fragile with respect to errors. But, I'm no VDSL expert.

I just sent an email to snap and they were perfectly agreeable. I'm not sure if my initial dodgy modem made a difference or not.

I was on 17a Profile for the 19 months I was with my previous ISP and now I am getting this. Hopefully DLM will make it jump back.

I think your attenuation would need to be under a certain level to get 17a tho.

your graph looks rather odd.. the positioning of the upload alone aside from everything else..

shouldnt that end all be part of downstream band 3, how does upload bands end up in there..  would seem something has changed compared to the stats collected for the first post?

attention looks interesting there..

your line looks pretty good, hows the CRCs going?

looks fine for 17a, seems to be chance still at actually getting on it though..

hm, that saves the effort of calling too +1 on the motivation level for it then.. kinda want to see how the tool enjoys playing with a connection that DLM is having a go at..

and have a chance to pull more information off telnet too :D
