attention looks interesting there..

your line looks pretty good, hows the CRCs going?

looks fine for 17a, seems to be chance still at actually getting on it though..

1197 Down 566 Up.

over the 6 days, thats really not bad..

It says since last link? 7 Days is around 4 times that I think unless I am not reading it properly.

I down a lot of downloading though if that is related.

i haven't seen any correlation between error rates when not downloading to when downloading bulk masses..

Yah I wasn't sure figured not but thought I'd check.

What is "normal" for a 24 hour period or 7 days? (Whichever is easiest)

surfisup1000:
So, my speed is now 66/10, attenuation increased from 2 to 4 for some reason, and CRC errors have been all but eliminated (pre 17a it was around 5-8 errors every 15 minutes, now it is 0 or 1).

Attenuation is up because 17a uses higher frequencies and higher frequencies attenuate quicker with distance. I also saw a drop in errors on 17a. It's possibly because there is relatively lower interference since most people are still on ADSL. But I'm just guessing.

fellaintga:  Can you post your Spectrum Graph Surf?

hio77: shouldnt that end all be part of downstream band 3, how does upload bands end up in there..  would seem something has changed compared to the stats collected for the first post?

The 17a spectrum in the first post is from someone who was manually put on 17a by Chorus back when they where still doing that. I think they've changed the 17a profile parameters since then. My spectrum is similar to surfisup1000's, except I think his has misaligned the legend (maybe a bug in the new firmware?). Interestingly his connection is almost exclusively using US3 band while mine uses half of US2 as well as US3. Still massively underutilised though - we should be getting 70 Mbps upstream as well as down. Incidentally, the upstream bands here are 696-1176, 1632-2776, and 3248-4088 (courtesy of sar:status/USBandConfig).

that would mean the down band 3 has been changed too, seems odd.. wasnt saying there was anything wrong with it, simply that it contradicted what is in the post and maybe thats out of date now..

You may well be right.  If someone with a near perfect line can give me a screenshot I'll update the first post.

it just seems like an utter waste..  could easily get far more upstream or downstream with changes to limits or ranges...

Yes, as I said we could easily get 70/70 with the current band setup I think. Or 100/50 with some careful band selection.

The spectrum I posted is a 70/10 connection. I wouldn't call it perfect but you probably can't get any faster at the moment.

Maybe it would create too much crosstalk?

might be asking a bit much of vdsl, or atlest attention will shine through if things were set that high.. worth the hope the chorus looks into vdsl vectoring?

http://www.tmcnet.com/voip/departments/articles/319258-vdsl2-vectoring-next-thing-copper-access.htm

http://www.gazettabyte.com/home/2012/11/9/vdsl2-vectoring-explained.html

maybe once telecom start selling vdsl there might be more of a push to improve profiles and all..

so thats a prettmuch full DS/US graph then.. the gaps are crazy!

SamF: Maybe it would create too much crosstalk?

isnt this also why 17a isnt widely used at distance?
