JamesL: anyone else considering bonding two vdsl2 connections together if the price drops?

i considered doing it with my adsl connection when i was sitting on a rural 2mbit connection, but a vdsl connection? do you really require that?

I have enough trouble saturating one connection... can't imagine I'd want to pay double for the 1% of the time when I'd notice the difference.

I'm already on DLM1 so I don't see how I can go up any further, unless I magically get on 17a which seems unlikely :p

Well this is uber annoying... I'm now on DLM6 after more errors last night. After 9 months on DLM1 without any issues and low error rates.

Anyway, I've search high and low and can't find anything internal that might be causing this:

Those error spikes are pretty extreme man. There must be something going on on your line!

Yes, very wrong. The consistent pattern of errors probably indicates interference I think. But from what? Sidefx, have you got a heat pump or something that's running overnight?

Nothing that runs all night like the errors seem to indicate. We do have an electric heater we've been running a on a timer, but it's only for 3 periods of less than 1 hour during the night, so it doesn't line up with the errors which just seem to go all night. I'll unplug it completely tonight to see, but I did unplug it for 2 hours night before last and the errors just kept coming. That's the only thing I can think of that we've changed recently in the house.

Right so I tried running said heater for an hour around 11am but no errors at all (I think I had 2 in the whole hour) - so I tried turning on various other lights in the house, etc and nothing. Errors have been completely flat all day. Then I started thinking about outside the house... and well, we have a street light on the other side of the road directly opposite our house. The street lights just came on around 10 minutes ago and I'm now watching the errors skyrocket.

Likely? Possible? Any thoughts? If so why hasn't it affected my line before.. and what can I do about it?

That certainly seems to fit the error pattern! Perhaps there is some power short which is affecting your line after all the rain? It could be anywhere between you and the cabinet. I guess build a bit of a history for a week or so and then contact snap.

go knock over the lamp and see if it helps? :L

my errors are slowly increasing more and more, seems odd.. think i might try the power off for 5 mins trick, thats improved the error rates for me many times so far..
