After Xtra broadband being "unleashed" last month i realised that are broadband speed had doubled... in slowness. Instead of being able to reach 7 mbps we get a max of 1.2 mbps ("unfortunately you're one of the unfortunate people who are far from the exchange") and we still pay $60 for the 10 gig plan!!!

Anyway i chomped through the broadband and today are counter has been reset and the speed has gone up to a wopping 12 kbps!!! what the!!

There are lots of discussion in our forums about this - I recomment you read them all. There's no promise of 7.6 Mbps speeds anywhere, although people have been uncomfortable with the ISPs' promises of "as fast as your line can get", which seems to suggest a nice speed, but in reality could be what you are experiencing.

Speeds vary depending on distance from the exchange, number of devices connected on your home, the quality of the wiring at home, and other factors.

Web-based speed tests are not conclusive, and are just a general indicator.
