Hi all,
Just wanting to review my network setup at home, but before I do I want to ensure I have optimal speeds and setup.
Situated in Waltham, Christchurch. ISP is Fyx naked ADSL. Chorus says the local network has capability of > 10Mbps. Speedtests show 7.71 Mbps down, 0.85Mbps up and 57ms ping (tested wired, not Wi-Fi). Steam downloads typically peak at around 900KB/S. Fyx website tells me line speed is 'EUBA 0' (if that info is useful at all?), interleaving off. I have a Netgear N150 ADSL2+ modem router. Isolation test not necessary, as I only have one active jack-point, and the modem-router is the only device connected to it. I do have a filter between the jack-point and the modem-router - but with no phone is this necessary? (I read somewhere it can be disposed of)
My plan is to improve speed primarily for PC gaming.
Might upgrade modem-router, and run CAT5 through the house (or get landlords permission for proper wiring).
Any suggestions?
