According to Telecom's website, I can get VDSL at my address.

My current BB supplier, Vodafone, can apparently only offer ADSL at the same address.

Is that normal? I imagine the same wiring is being used by both companies.

Both companies provide VDSL off the same network, One provider is wrong.

pretty sure i read somewhere, that if cable is available, vodafone wont do VDSL.

your speedtest indicates your in Wellington, so plausible.. have you tried actually calling vodafone and asking their billing team?

otherwise, TimA loves to be pestered with lookup questions (although i hear he may be away over the next few days.)

Cable from exchange to house yes but they can use differnt switching equipment in the exchange to provide xDSL services

We are way out in the bundu I am afraid - Martinborough. About 85km from Wellington. There are no Speedtest servers here! Definitely no cable here.

There is Chorus VDSL in the Martinborough exchange, so if you are in the township you have a good chance of getting it.

Note: Some ISPs only offer VDSL where they have their own DSLAMs in a Chorus exchange, or don't offer Wholesale-based VDSL if they have their own infrastructure (Community Wi-Fi, Fixed Wireless, Cable, Fibre). This is completely logical and to be expected.

Go to www.chorus.co.nz/maps and look up your address and then shop around.

suppose this prompts the question, why are you with vodafone?

ild turn to another isp, atlest simply to ask for a "prequal" to check for vdsl.

post your line stats if you want, can pick through them and give you a few estimates too.

You map is using incorrect data. It lists our address as being in Ponatahi, which is about 20km away!

I finally got NZ Post to correct their maps but yours must be using the older data. It just says 'outside area of planned coverage' though.
