Hi all,
My current ADSL2 setup utilizes a BT-male / RJ11 cord (roughly 5m long) to connect the phone jack to my router (DGN-2200 NetGear), then using Cat5E between router and PC.
Today I tested a phone/ADSL splitter that came with my router. It made no difference to line attenuation, and noise margin was basically unchanged. Below are some screenshots from my routers interface. Screenshot 1 and 3 have the line splitter connected, 2 and 4 without. The difference on downstream is the only substantial change.

I want to install a better phone jack/master splitter etc to cut out unnecessary signals. The wiring seemed old - brown, white, black, with yellow disconnected. A blue and white wire connecting a test termination unit (I have no idea what that does). Does anyone have some idea of how to improve the setup. I'm hoping I can upgrade the connection without altering the setup from outside of the building.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Cheers,
Old phone Jack
