My internet went down at 10am, I only noticed when I got home. I rang Snap who said Chorus did some work on some piece of physical equipment I'm connected to at the same time my connection went down so they likely broke it. Probably up some time tomorrow, but I won't hold my breath.

Bugger! I'll have to read a book it talk to my wife. Lucky I don't host anything here.

I wonder how long it will be until someone chimes in about residential connections being best effort, no SLAs, etc, etc?

Personally I'd be pretty annoyed if that happened to me though, and I think you have every right to be too! ;-)

Not that bothered really. I have 4G and nothing urgent to do, though if I was working from home which I regularly do that'd be annoying.

So working from the standpoint that Internet Access is now a human right, we need to get Susan Devoy onto this :-P

Evening Timmmay, apologies for the outage. We have identified the cause of the problem and we're working to resolve it asap. We'll be in touch once it's fixed but this may not be possible until during regular business hours. ^KS

Yes and people need to remember that mistakes happen and ISPs and Telcos hiding behind "best efforts" need to remember that they still need to provide a reasonable level of service.

I wonder if Snap can make chorus service the UFB cable that's been laid on my street last month. I wonder how long before it is "ready" ....

It wasn't even an emergency, and I hadn't complained, I was just bitching a bit! Didn't really bother me all that much.

I think that timmmay deserves a free underground UFB connection from Chorus for his troubles. laughing
