I am quite confused about something. I have checked the Chorus maps to see when my property would have UFB available. And it tells me:

NETWORK CAPABILITY

  • UFB fibre up to 200 Mbps
  • Broadband > 10 Mbps

So that to me means that I can get UFB at my house. But when I check my ISP to see if UFB is available, it tells me I dont have UFB or VDSL.

So I did a bit more reading around and this is what I am thinking:
I have fibre on the street. I need to get this to my house. Would it be the ISP that does this or do I need to contact some other company to get UFB to my house and then contact ISP to hook me up?

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What happens if you try another ISPs address checker?

ISP address checkers are only indicators.  Email your ISP and ask them to do a manual pre-qual and they will be able to tell you for certain.

You can't get UFB installed without having an ISP place the order for you.

The process is 100% managed by your ISP.

It is possible your ISP's address checker is using old data - just check with a couple of ISPs in your area (including a big one like Spark).

If they all come back negative you can try call and ask them to recheck.

Sometimes the maps aren't 100%.

Don't underestimate this - not all ISPs service all areas, but I think Spark has service everywhere.

I will trust the map more than the ISP address checkers. Call up the ISP and ask for a recheck.

This is really important. If you are in a Chorus area this page from Chorus is good to know which ISP provides service in your area.

Thanks. I will check with my ISP (Slingshot) and ask them to manually check if I can get UFB. Not that I am complaining too much about my ADSL speeds at the moment (getting 1.7MB/s steam downloads constantly), but would be good especially now that I want to stream things like Netflix etc.
