Hi Guys,

 

 

 

I'm in Christchurch and currently a installer from Enable (Downer) is currently installing the internal fiber in my house.

 

 

 

My ISP is Voyager, and I am wondering because it is the weekend will the cut over happen? Does somebody from Voyager need to be there to do the switch over?

 

 

 

Also, we currently are on ADSL, and Voyager gave me a build document with Username / password for ADSL - will this stay the same or change for UFB?

Spark gave me a user / password for my fibre, but it doesn't really matter what they are.....the fields just can't be blank. I suspect it will be something like that with Voyager as well.

Well the installer has left, not before trying to hook up the router. I said it will take a while and took over and he left.

 

 

 

I have plugged in the router (Edge router lite) and have put in the ADSL settings they gave me in the build doc.

 

 

 

PPPoE connects fine and I get an IP, however there doesn't seem to be any internet flowing :-(, I can see RX packets being sent, however the TX packets stays at 0.

 

 

 

Any way I can fix this?

Look at https://helpdesk.voyager.co.nz/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/26

 

It says for UFB the username is 

 

yourusername@ufb.vygr.net

 

and the password is your password

 

You also need a VLAN 802.1q tag of 10 on the WAN port and 1492 mtu for the PPPoE

PPPoe doesn't connect when I put @ufb.vygr.net (over UFB).

 

PPPoe does connect when I put in @dsl.vygr.net (over UFB). I get my old IP. Changing the MTU's doesn't change anything.

 

Yes the VLAN10 is configured correctly - I wouldn't get a PPPoe connection without it.

Voyager's helpdesk is available from 8AM to 6PM Monday through Friday, NZT (UTC+12:00).

Have you had Internet working previously with that edge router configuration? As I managed to do the same thing once on my edge router. When I was playing with the firewall rules.

Hi Aredwood, I am using your config so I hope the firewall is okay :-)

 

I can ping the remote gateway in Voyager land, but no further.

Should be ok since you can ping from your computer to Voyager.

Called Voyager, they sent through the correct UFB username and password, all working as expected!

Got to say that my Bigpipe UFB install was much more pleasant than that.

 

They sent all the details on how to connect (setup the router - DNS server addresses, IP address (fixed) and what to enter for authentication (dummy details as it happens)) around 2 weeks before the install was due.

 

When the installers came they hooked everything up - the last bit around 5pm on a Friday. The guy saw there wasnt a connection showing on the ONT - he rang a chorus number and quoted some ID number - a couple of seconds later the light came on the router and he said 'there you go - its active'. I plugged in my router and all working.

 

 

 

I guess sometimes you win - others you don't.
