We've just moved into a new place in Tauranga, and it's a bit disheartening moving only 1.5km down the road, and having the DSL line go from full speed ADSL2 to under 2000kbps :(  My parents live right accross the road and get a much higher sync speed (will head over tomorrow to get an exact number, but by memory their line speed is near maximum). The fact that they have such a high line speed leads me to believe that the issue must lie in this new house somewhere, correct?

The house has never been connected to ADSL in the past, and there are two jack points. One of them has the phone and a filter, and the other one has the router. My internet and phone line are both with Slingshot. Who do I contact regarding this issue? Is it going to cost me to fix it? Thanks.

edit 2: FYI, it does seem that I'm on an ADSL2+ exchange, as I can force it to connect as ADSL2+, but it's unstable.
