I was recently blessed with a 2k budget for a pc build of my choice. I've been looking through youtube tutorials and build guides on pcpartpicker and have come up with this as my final choices.

I'm a year 9 student and the PC will be mostly dedicated to gaming and maybe a little schoolwork.

Any suggestions to my choices?

Overall it’s a good build. I’ve just upgraded my older Ryzen system to similar (RX 6800 XT / regular 5600 but otherwise much the same). You’ll get screaming 1080p performance and very good 1440p performance.

I’d try and source a 5600 rather than a 5600g if I could make the money work. The extra cache plus you’ll get some better over locking options. Have a look at importing from Amazon etc, deals come along.

If you aren’t over clocking you don’t need the cooler, the 5600G or 5600 comes with a box cooler. I’d use that budget for the CPU. You’ve also gone for high end fans. They are excellent but you won’t need amazing performance for that combo. I’ve got cheaper fans in a high airflow case and it’s basically silent.

A couple of thoughts

3 120mm fans seems excessive. And a little bit pricey. If you really need 3 fans, maybe a basic Phanteks SK 120mm fan from PB Tech at $15 each

Your CPU has integrated graphics, and you have a video card. Is the video card really required?

There can be a big price difference between the 5600 and 5600g. Currently the 5600g is much cheaper.

Ah, the extra noctua fans and cpu cooler was added because I was concerned that my extremely toasty room will impact the temps. It's been raining the past few days and my room is still averaging 25-27 degrees C.

I simply just chose the 5 5600g over the normal non 'g' or 'x' versions because it was cheaper and I'm not expecting to overclock anytime soon.

If you’re worried about temperature go for a higher airflow case first. It makes a huge difference.

go for a 980 evo 1TB drive over the 970 Evo Plus and save yourself $30 or so.

your motherboard may not have enough fan headers for all those fans so you will need to get somethign for that, and if you want RGB you will also need something for that too. some 3 pack of fans come with a fan splitter/controller

Spend a $1000 on the pc and invest the other $1000. You will appreciate the gains $ in 10/15 years more than the gains in PC performance now.

The 5600g and 5600/X are quite different parts with very similar performance. Just make sure you understand the differences around L3 cache and PCI gen 3.0 vs gen 4.0.

At 1080p the 5600g can give you a 5-10% performance penalty vs 5600/X.

The cost difference is pretty big at the moment so it's not a bad decision to for the 5600g just go in eyes wide open.

I like Be Quiet products. Their fans are excellent, better than Noctua in my opinion, though difficult to find. I have their Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU cooler, which is excessive but quiet. I'll try to get one of their cases next time I need a case.

While the 5600G graphics is good, any sort of decent gaming will choke it. So a dedicated video card is a good move.....
