There are plenty of retailers that don't take the money until just before the order ships. 

IMO no one should be buying one right now because:

1) You can't find stock anyway, and keeping NZ supplied is pretty low down the priority list for Nvidia and AIB partners.

2) We still don't know the full story about the boost clock issues.

3) Nvidia will almost certainly ambush AMD at the Big Navi launch event in late October. If AMD goes hard on price, Nvidia will follow suit.

Pre-ordering (without prepayment) can be a good option, but you don't want to get your card delivered a few days before the Big Navi event, and suddenly yourself wanting a 3080 20GB.....

None of that means anything to me, so I'm happy to have an order in the queue, bought and paid for.  I can understand why others might feel differently.

Gigabyte Gaming OC 3080 Received and installed.. no issues so far. Seems to be nice and quiet.

She's a huge card though - you want to check your case specs. I only have about 2-4mm between the end of the card and my intake fan

Really hoping my order comes through with Computer Lounge. Order status changed to "Hold", whatever that means. Anyone else get this?

 

I saw the hold thing on mine yesterday as well.Like you have no way of knowing what this means."Hold "is not a word I automatically associate with my order being expedited lol

Exactly, it doesn't look promising at all. Considering how long this wait is going to be, I'm wondering if it now would have been better to wait and see what AMD brings in October. Computer Lounge wouldn't even tell me where I was in the queue.

So nothing on the 3070 yet then? I'd love to see how it compares to the 1080TI and 2080 Series. 

 

Official laumch date on the 29th of October. I'll be taking a look at buying one after Christmas.
