The RDNA2 announcement suggests it is game on in the GPU market. This is great for consumers.

The price of the 6900XT looks good at USD1,000. Not that I can buy it needing CUDA, just wish it would make nVidia lower the price of the 3090 but who am I kidding rofl, they know they have a market AMD doesn't.
Do we know pricing of the 3070 yet?

My MSI 3080 Trio just shipped. The watch has finally ended.

Still unknown as far as I know, though PBtech just had a Zotac 3070 come up on their for $1550, which I'm assuming that was just a pricing error (hopefully, wouldn't make any sense otherwise).

Well, before the post was deleted from reddit, I saw the pricing of a bunch of the EVGA models.
Ranged from $1099 up to like $1299. Their was only 4 models and the ROG strix was like the $1299 one. Someone was asking why some models were missing.
I clicked away and when I returned it had gone. So not sure if that's including GST.
It looked like a scanned consignment sheet haha.
Edit. Given the Radeon RX 6800 XT is at around the same price, and is the 3080 challenger, the 3070 doesn't look so great at these prices, if it holds up under benchmarks of course. Also we don't know about AMD's raytracing solutions.

Oh boy haha, I'm really hoping it's going to stay in the $1000 - $1200 range.

I 'm curious to see how the Radeon RX 6800 XT at the same prices goes against this card. It was aimed a the 3080 and has 16gb VRAM, so this might be awkward for nvidia.....

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

Bloody hell, I should've waited. Oh well, the Zotac is probably just as good, and doesn't need the 3rd 8pin which means I don't need to order a single cablemod cable to make things not weird.
Regardless of AMD, the 3080 is a beast. Enjoy!
Def consider a 6800XT .
3080 is great... but the price on these other cards are pretty good :D

At least it puts pressure on Nvidia. Once the supply chain stabilises next year it'll be a good price/performance battle.
If you want to play Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing on then Nvidia has a clear advantage with 2nd gen RTX and DLSS. AMD's first-gen RT cores simply won't be as good so you may be seeing last gen (Turing RTX 20XX) levels of ray tracing performance, even with the 6900XT. And that is assuming if AMD's drivers are any good.
Raw horsepower of RDNA2 looks competitive, if you're not into ray tracing. However some benchmarks have smart access memory enabled, so if you don't have the newest Ryzen CPUs & B550 mobos you'll not get the performance shown in the slides. AMD is struggling a little bit to make it look competitive, which I suspect will be obvious once we have 3rd-party benchmarks.
Pricing looks sharp however, and I can certainly see AMD stealing a ton of sales from Nvidia if Ampere continues to be a paper launch. However in NZ the local retailers never had good stock of Radeon cards at decent prices, so if there is stock of RDNA2 cards, they'll be overpriced compared to Nvidia.
I think $1000+ is well overpriced
