Life pro tip:

If you're maybe a bit on the "high BMI" side of the scales and in a video conference meeting with lots of other people, don't continually stuff your face with muffins etc while the camera is on and you're supposed to be taking part.

People may be mean - but that's a really bad look.  Wear a silly hat or something if you want to stand out.

Jealous of that desk size @hio77!

I tried to get another desk since we only have tiny little student desk and both the missus and I need to set up for work, especially since I am working off both my home PC and work laptop. But no such luck.

Might have to try my luck on seeing if The Market will deliver still, but fully expecting either a 4 week min. wait or having it cancelled...

Edit: According to this, it looks like they are still operating deliveries

This whole WFH experience has made me realize I need a bigger desk, and more monitors.
Also, yesterday I went scrambling into the closet to find a keyboard with a numpad - I didn't really think about it, but some of the software I have to use for work totally depends on having a numpad. That was kinda awkward.

Is WFH legal under level 4 if you are in a non-essential service -  even the wording under level 3 is ambiguous

Currently under Level 3 it indicates the following

This means New Zealanders not working in essential services must stay at home and stop all interactions with others outside of your household. This affectively blocks WFH   Under level 4 all non-essential businesses are to close.

It's ok, they are probably as slow as you can enter in the keys with top of the row numbers!

Yeah but some of the NEAX stuff calls for things like ALT + F17. That's where the numpad comes in handy.

Are you serious? Is your post helpful? Think about the intent of the hurried requirements - if you're able to WFH and no have physical interactions with others, thereby risking transmission, then I think any reasonable person would interpret the wording as referring to physical premises. I know that's how I interpreted it.

Also, any non essential business about to effectively fully or partly enable WFH for their employees is going to be in a better state at the end of this - and your job will be at less risk if the company gets to stay afloat.

Personally I have put more hours in in the last 3 days than any previous 3 working days at this job - although I am in an essential service.

Cheers - N

Yes i am serious. The phrasing in several areas implies no contact - including online - and all businesses to close, with no exclusion for those who can work from home.

FFS; ... 30 seconds googling man...

https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/diseases-and-conditions/covid-19-novel-coronavirus/covid-19-novel-coronavirus-information-specific-audiences/covid-19-advice-workplaces

"From 11:59pm on Weds 25th will move to Alert Level 4 – Eliminate. This means businesses must close with staff either working from home or taking leave. Businesses can continue operating at Alert Level 4. "

Your post is unhelpful and misleading and could have been avoided with a cursory search.

Cheers - N

When they say interactions they mean physical contact. the lockdown is ONLY about minimising that

Do you even understand WHY we are in a lockdown? Honestly man, just use your brain for a moment.

You can't give someone Covid 19 remotely. It's about limiting the spread of the Virus.

Why would they be preventing people from working from home? How do you think Payroll will happen, bills get paid?

Remember to be kind to each other. It's a stressful time and there's no harm in people asking questions to clarify things if they don't understand.
