My thoughts on Chrome are 50/50..... on my home box, runs fine.... at work, crashes everytime and Im not running anything out of the ordinary.
Can live without it at the moment........

Google is slowly taking over the world :-/ They've got mobile phone software coming up. Soon: The Google car. 3L/100K.

I gave up yesterday with it. But decided to give it another try this morning.. Im more impressed now than yesterday. Its an instant open application, with firefox3 my machine will sit there for 5-10 seconds before it opens it, not so much with chrome. Pages seem to load faster today, luving the new tab favourites window and the downloads page.. Only thing im missing at the moment is my middle scroll wheel click.. im going to try and find a solution to that right now

My goodness... This is how blogs work. RWW links to ZDNet, which in turns link to the proof of concept, created by Aviv Raff. I don't see anyone linking to Aviv's original post.

Why people don't give link love to the original creators of a piece, the guy that actually did the work and found the flaw?

I'm sticking with FF3. Chrome seems to combine all the bad things about Safari and Opera with a mere couple of good things from Opera.

It uses Webkit. One.
It has no settings to change. Two.
It isn't friendly to the user. Three.

... You can guess what's coming next ...

It uses Webkit - great! One of the most standards-compliant rendering engines out there!
It has no settings to change - it does, but less than other browsers... (tool icon > Options)
It isn't friendly to the user - what kind of user?

But seriously, Chrome will definitely satisfy many plain internet users.

I like the way it maximises the screen space, and it seems very fast but...

I may be thick but is there a way of getting the stuff you'd normally have on Google toolbar (eg Gmail, Google earth, image search, site search)?

Also the easy-to-get-at print/page setup controls which I use quite a bit?

Interests: HTPC, Web App authoring.

You mean bookmarking Gmail? Google Maps? - Enable the bookmark bar (by going to the wrench icon)

Special searches from sites can be enabled. First go to the website, and make a query as normal. Then type the name of the website into the omnibox and press Tab when the special message appears on the right.

Print controls are at the page icon (or by pressing CTRL+P as usual). Doesn't seem to have a page setup dialog yet though.
