Definitely not all the cards - my 1080 is an EVGA FE, and I took the cooler off and replaced it with the EVGA Hybrid Kit aftermarket, both coolers cooled the VRMs. The specific flaw is with the ACX 3.0 cooler models, in that there's no airflow, heatsink contact, or anything really at all to cool the VRMs - they just sit there being really, really hot. Buy what suits - I highly recommend the EVGA cards, with the obvious issue prior mentioned, and MSI cards, notably their Gaming X range. Asus and Gigabyte are pretty good too, but don't spin my wheels too much. Get what suits you, and if price is an issue - probably just put up with the issues you're facing for now, because you'll be feeling mighty unhappy when the prices plummet early next year, with the GTX 1080 Ti looming, and the RX 490 already leaking.

How much do you think the prices are going to plummet and how early next year?

PB Tech have confirmed they have a new batch of the fixed EVGA cards. Does anyone know how to request a price match with PB?

Does that void the warranty installing the Hybrid Kit yourself?

i would suspect the price drop would be towards the end of january.

RX490 and 1080ti will be announced, and people will start selling their 2nd hand GTX1080's. Im keeping my card for hopefully at least the next 18 months.

Has anyone had experience with DTC Systems? I've brought a couple of things from them and they seem quite good. Jeff is usually who I speak with and he's pretty helpful.

They also have a new batch of the fixed EVGA cards with the 1070 SC at $735 inc gst and free shipping compared to PB's $795 inc shipping.

$735 is a good price. By how much do you think I might be unhappy if I purchased now rather than the new year @toejam?

Well the rx490 is slated to compete with the gtx 1080 and the 1080 ti won't have a match, so I imagine the 1080 ti will hit around $1500 and the Rx 490 will hit around $700-$800 after prices settle. That should push the 1070 down which will push the Rx 480 down. Do note this is just a prediction, so don't stake your life on this. Do what makes you happy.

I think I'm going to move on the 1070 from DTC, they also honor the manufacturers full warranty period, it's really great to see some retailers go this extra effort.

I'll get my 970 RMA underway and won't have to worry about how long that will take.

Great choice the 1070 is a beast. If you play at 1080p it decimates it. And at 1440p it's sufficient.

I can't believe what the US pay for their products, $415 US for the 1070 SC. That must be like a walk in the park for them. Our dollar strength aside, we must still be inflated...

I have given up comparing on US prices for stuff which I won't import as it just depresses me.

That said, it is not a fair comparison considering the market size - it is just the way it is and the price of living in Oceania!

I did look at ordering my GPU from Amazon, but once you factored in Shipping and GST + duty etc, the saving all but vanished and for the extra pain of a potential RMA, it wasn't worth it. Interestingly I did check UK Amazon prices and with the weak pound/strong dollar, we actually do alright locally in comparison.

I've mentioned NZD prices on US forums and people can't believe them. I wonder if their prices actually seem cheap to them.

Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR3 16 GB the stock that is left in NZ is going for $500+. I can get it from Amazon for about NZD $200 inc shipping! The higher priced items require a duty charge and the larger/heavier it is the shipping will be higher so ends up not really being worth it. Maybe look out for smaller things though. I want to get a DataVac electric duster from Amazon, I waste so much money on compressed air!

Battlefield 1 looks sharper and feels a bit smoother, I feel like I'm packing some GPU power but I'm convinced the game still has performance/server issues.

Interesting you still don't feel it is as good as you want it - I have mine running maxed with 1.25 supersampling and it seems pretty flawless at 60fps. I was thinking only yesterday that they seemed to have the engine and server side of things locked down pretty well this time!

My name BF1 is 1t3m by the way should you ever fancy squadding up. I mostly suck.

No, I definitely feel and see an improvement with the 1070, it does feel a lot smoother. Here is a vid I took the other night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1kWg8oEicM First vid up, channel just started.

Using the fan curve I had on the 970 the 1070 is running at 50C, nice. Some maps seem to use more resources, for example Empires Edge where my CPU is almost pegged and the GPU core clock is at max. I noticed an improvement in the engine after the latest patch with my 970 but server issues still look to be problem, sometimes I get huge dragging halts to about 30-40 fps.
