You can export from Lastpass to a CSV right now. Not at all secure obviusly but potentially better than the alternative.

The alternative is me sitting down and doing it manually and deleting old logins I need to get rid of anyway.

It's long overdue and it will pay off in the long run, so I'm enduring it for now. But if we start seeing class action suits getting headlines then I'll take what's left offline.

Putting the encryption thingy up to 350,000 makes opening BitWarden on my phone a but slower. At 100,000 it was taking 4-5 seconds to open (already too slow), at 300,000 it's up to about 7-8 seconds, which is probably beyond my tolerance for slowness. I run my own VaultWarden server (bitwarden compatible) and have it fairly well protected with various techniques, so I've set it back to 100,000.

When I changed mine to 350,000 it was slow the first time I opened the android app. Now it opens with a second or so. I have about 230 saved passwords and I'm using a 5 year old Sony phone.

Next thing would be to avoid having to enter the long Master Password on every autofil on IOS. How do I do that?

Enable FaceID / Fingerprint ID.

Interesting. My Pixel 4a is always a bit slow to open, I think I have about 1500 passwords, a few with things like file attachments.

I had that with LastPass, but can't find anywhere to enable it now for Bitwarden, including under Settings/Passwords/Password Options.

Under Settings/Face ID & Passcode "Password Autofill" is already enabled.

It's under settings in the android app.

I know nothing about this stuff, but I did listen to the 2 Steve Gibsons podcasts about the LastPass problem and i thought he said it makes a difference when you first change it, but from then on it shouldn't make a noticeable difference??

@johno1234 On Android it is called "Unlock with Biometrics" found in the security section of "Settings"

Fairly long term Bitwarden user, but there are a few things that annoy me.

1. Default for Clear Clipboard is NEVER. This just should NOT be so, and should be the first thing a new user should change. Leaving you bank passord in memory is just dumb, and doubly dumb if you have clipboard history enabled.

2. Biometric login. Works fine in Android, but is just a pain in the butt on a PC. Firstly you need the desktop app installed and running before you can use, e.g., Windows Hello to login in a brower. Secondly it seems things must be done in a particular order when you first add an extension to a browser, mainly that the desktop app must be installed and running first. It wasn't high on my priorities of things to sort out, but I contacted Bitwarden support last week and got an email back the following day (pretty impressed on that one.) For those that may be having the issue the relevant text is:

The issue stems from the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\[your_browser]\NativeMessagingHosts\com.8bit.bitwarden registry key not being created.  You can try the below steps, with which some users have reported success:

In Bitwarden Desktop

- Disable Login With Windows Hello
- Disable Browser integration.

- Restart your machine

In Bitwarden Desktop

- Enable Browser Integration

- Enable Windows Hello / Biometrics

In the Browser Extension:

- Enable Biometrics

3. The settings are not replicated on different machines for the same login. I can see some sense for this, e.g. I have the desktop set to lock in 1 minute, and then work with the browser extension, which is on a longer timeout. But it could be simpler when trying to keep multiple machines up to date.

4. Why can't biometric login be soley from the browser extention. Dashlane can do it, you first enable it using their webapp, then it is available from the browser extension: Unlock the web app with your fingerprint or a security key – Dashlane

Edit: extra linebreaks removed, hopefully. Nope, sorry.

Nokia 6110, 6210, 6234, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, Huawei Ideos X5 (Windows Mobile), Samsung Galaxy SIII, LG G4, OnePlus 5, iPhone Xs Max (briefly), S21 Ultra. And I thought I hadn't had many phones - but the first one around 1997.

I've just moved over from Lastpass to Bitwarden - I'm very impressed.

The transfer over was about as painless as it could be.

And the FAQ section on the Bitwarden page is very well written and easy to understand.

@johno1234 if you haven't already found the FaceID option, it's in the BW app settings "unlock with FaceID".

Now have Lastpass transferred to BitWarden, app installed on IOS, extension installed in Chrome. It really does just work.

Now I am just thinking about deleting my LastPass account. Will leave it there for a few weeks then if it hasn't been accessed it's gone.

Is there a trick to making the Bitwarden autofill ctrl+shift+L hotkey work reliably? It works for me maybe every second time I try and log in - Chrome usually works but I frequently have issues in Edge and Vivaldi.
