Team

This sort of service is not my area, looking for some feedback on bitwarden (or similar)

Have had a request from a friend as to what application is nice and secure (as far as they can be) whilst being budget conscious for annual pricing.

Request was on Bitwarden, happy to look elsewhere

They all have glowing home pages on how good.......

Bitwarden.
Free version works fine for me.

Bitwarden!  I used LastPass until their free plan was restricted to one device type.  I use MacOS, Android and Windows and Bitwarden spans all of them.

I run an open source version of BitWarden called VaultWarden on one of my servers. The Android app, browser plugins and Windows app are good. I'm self hosting so I get some of the more advanced features without cost, it wasn't difficult to set up using Docker and uses very little memory. Having it on my own server I can whitelist IPs as well, so I can only access it from home, which works fine.

I am doing the same as Timmmay via a Home Assistant add-on. Vaultwarden plus Cloudflared is amazing. Bitwarden is great.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. Do you have an outbound CloudFlare tunnel putting Vaultwarden on the internet? I deliberately kept VaultWarden locked down to specific IPs, as it's on an internet based server. I was considering using tunnel for Home Assistant though, that's on an R.Pi at home and I need a VPN to access it.

I upgraded from the free Bitwarden plan to the paid one because I liked it so much and wanted to reward the people that work on it.

Bitwarden here as well now.  Was also using enpass (enpass lets you host your own encrypted password vault on a 3rd party service like drop box, meaning not even enpass has a record of your encrypted passwords on their server).

+1 for Bitwarden. It's simple and does the job nicely across many platforms. Even on the work computers via the vault website.

In the past I used to repeat a handful of passwords across many sites/accounts, but now it's all randomly generated 14 character passwords.

It feels a bit strange not knowing what each password is to each site/account when you log in to them!

I use LastPass Premium. It just works, including seamless integration on IOS. There may well be as good free alternatives but... US$36 a year yet to me it is worth literally tens of thousands of dollars vs having no password manager.

Bitwarden. It works. Free version is more than fine for personal use.
