Just installed a new mobo processor and ram - problems with booting!

i've referred to http://support.asus.com/Troubleshooting/detail.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&m=H87M-E&s=45&hashedid=khjfbKhrFHrDQ3NW&os=&no=978

Looks like I just have to go back to the shop with it ><

It's the Asus H87M-E with the i5
I've tried onboard and my ati 7770, tried two different monitors, tried clearing CMOS, tried booting with different harddrives connected, with mobo dvd in.

Anyone ran into a similar issue before? Any other ideas before I brave this rain hauling my tower down to the shop?

Any beeps?

More than likely a problem with the RAM. What type of RAM have you installed?

Might sound silly but you've definitely got the extra CPU power connector plugged into the mainboard?
The four pin plug with yellow and black wires that plugs in near the CPU. (Could possibly be 8 pin that breaks in half)

Reseating the ram did the trick! Cheers for that , completely didn't consider it since there were no beeps and no screen response at all.

There is an 0800 that you can ring that has an automated activation thing. You get a code pop up on the screen that you type in and then the phone tells you a number back.

Don't know how to invoke it though. Have only used it during the install process.

Yup rang it, followed prompts, entered the million digit number then it kindly informed me I'd used the key before so can't use now. Transferred to a rep, listened to the machine tell me bout twenty times someone would answer soon, then it hung up on me. Guess I try again after work tomorrow.

The key will be tied to your original mobo/cpu/ram combo so when you speak to the rep on the phone just tell them you've replaced those components (due to failure?) and they should activate it for you.

usually the IVR asks you something like "If you have uninstalled this software on the previous PC, press 1" and then it resets the count and gives you an activation code. I have done this numerous times over the years, and used to speak with a rep but never in the last couple of years.
