I cannot believe I'm asking this question, but the more I look at the choices the more confused I am.

What I'd like out of it - 1 quiet 2 no clutter (?wireless) 3 easy to type on for a NON typist (use for facebook and emails). Quite like somewhere in between a chiclet apple keyboard and a full sized key travel (the more travel the more likely I am to make a noise when typing??)

The options that confuses me

- wireless - if I already use a wireless mouse (hate cables!) will a second 2.4GHz receiver get interference? (mouse not able to use a unifying receiver)

- touchpad! woo hoo can control from a distance without needing to use a mouse on the couch! but crammed arrows, missing number pad & insert/home/end six pack. expensive!

- I don't want to spend money for mechanical however amazing they are ... or should i for the sake of my kids learning touch typing??

- cheap and nasty (prefer not to unless it's free)

- cheap and quiet (Microsoft 600 desktop - is that actually quiet? that's my budget so far)

- palm comfort - what makes a palm sore and what makes it comfortable? to be honest that's not a worry as I said, only rarely type

I have always enjoyed Logitech keyboards, from the cheap to the expensive i have never been let down!

As for wireless i cannot help you but i did get a mouse pad with the wrist pads on it, was the most comfiest period of gaming i ever had. They only lasted for 6 months and then i would get a new one but it saved many a pain.

I'm going to noob myself past judgement

I think its down to a personal preference. You cant really ask "what is the best" because everyone prefers different things. Some people love mechanical keyboards. Some don't. I don't have one, but have heard about how nice they are to type on.

I am still waiting on the K400 Plus. I did however use a similar layed out keyboard and found that the shorted backspace and enter key gaveme a lot of grief and mis hits. Oh well, so maybe not so good for typing, or maybe I'll get use to it.

Now, while browsing, I came across this, for maybe a giant ipad. Anyone knows if it's any good?

A short spiel on the K400 Plus.

Great functionality. Crap keyboard keys feel.

Cramped, short travel, noisy plastic (as opposed to soft plastic, but the key action is quiet, but hitting the keys makes more noise), not fun to type with at all.

Compromises I guess.
