Hello.

I have been asked to find an all-in-one PC for a friend.

I am looking at PBTech's offerings and I see some mention the word "education" in the description.

HP ProOne 400 G4 Education All in One 23.8" FHD Intel i5-8500T 8GB 128GB PCIe M.2 SSD + 1TB HDD DVDRW Win10Home 64bit 3yr Onsite warranty - Height Adjustable Stand, USB-Keyboard/Mouse

Are these computers only available for schools or can anyone buy one?

Probably find they'll ask for a student ID.

I don't like AIO's, one thing fails and you lose the whole unit while it gets fixed. Maybe mention this to your friend. :)

When I search on the website for other items with education in the title, the ones I see say "(Proof of Student ID Required)"  (IIRC teachers and employees in the education sector can also buy them)

(Odd that that one doesn't)

@xpd yes, we have had that discussion already. They have an AIO and like it, but its pretty old now, plus they don't really have space for a monitor and a box. I am sneakily looking at mini-pc's though. :)

Why would they only be for schools? Is it based on the software licenses?

Hey mate, anyone can purchase these, there are no requirements or restrictions. We have the "education" in the title to make it easier to search for particular devices, but I'm going to remove that now as there is a bit of confusion.

Sometimes those models come without a webcam. That should be specified at least as a warning somewhere if so on the specifications.

Why? A webcam is not an essential piece of equipment. I wouldn't expect there to be one unless specified. I'd be more annoyed if there were one and it wasn't mentioned.

Try telling that to the casual buyer that claims every laptop has a webcam these days.

If the Web Content Team Leader at PB Tech (unconfirmed) can't change it, who can?

@sirhumphreyappleby  to be fair, I have no idea of the capabilities of a darthfishpaste with 1 post to their name.

On the other hand no calls because the camera plug fell out or the speakers are turned off and no cables to trip over and less dust accumulation ; )
