Hey

I have the latest version of Firefox. I've noticed that if I copy something from Firefox (e.g. from a webpage, or even the address bar or Google search bar) and close Firefox, when I go to paste whatnot in Word, an Outlook email etc, nothing pastes. Yet if I copy and keep Firefox open, it pastes fine.

Don't have this issue with IE.

How can I make sure whatever I copy stays in clipboard even after Firefox is closed?

Just tried it and it works o.k. for me.
Firefox 10.0.2
Windows 7 64-bit

Select text from web page -> Ctrl+C -> close firefox -> Open notepad -> Ctrl+V

Edit: fixed typo.

No luck. Copied something, pasted it fine in Notepad (with Firefox open). Made sure I could paste it again. Did. Closed firefox. Wouldn't paste it anymore.

Two questions:

1) Do you have any extensions which enhance copy and paste? Try again with those uninstalled and after a restart.

2) Does this occur on all webpages or only when some pages are open?

Works fine for me after I close Firefox.

However, in my case I am using a clipboard manager (Clip X from http://clipx.org/ ). Maybe that's fixing a problem I don't know I have :)

1) Nope.

2) I would assume so. I just tried pasting something from my Google search toolbar in FF. Copied fine when FF was open. But then wouldn't after I closed it.

Are you running some antispyware package or some of those PC Performance programs? They tend to do stuff like this - deleting cookies and clearing up the clipboard...

I have Norton Internet Security 2012 running in the background. That includes the spyware part of it too.

Norton Utilities 14 is installed on my computer, but requires me to open it and do the cleaning/scanning manually. When I close it, I know it minimises to the traybar, but I right click the logo and fully close it.

One thing I do find annoying in Firefox is copying a web table and pasting into excel; IE will paste each cell individually in excel, whilst Firefox just splodges it into one cell

I've figured out what was going on. It was because I didn't enable FF to capture History. Enabling it has resolved the copy/paste issue.
