I upgraded my iPAC 3970 to Windows Mobile 2003. Before upgrading I had a lot of issues with bluetooth connection between the 3970 and K700i. TWith the T68i all worked fine.

The only issue left is creating a dail-up connection.

For some reason the K700i does not want to activate the Dail-up service for the 3970 (same for my laptop).

Any ideas here?

Pascal.

i'M ANOTHER K700I "VICTIM". i AM TRYING TO SET UP THE K700 AS A b/t modem for my ipaq 3870. After a week dealing with hp "instantsupport, I have upgraded ipaq rom to 2.20 and ipaq b/t to v1.1 and also added EUU service pack. Still no joy. When I select the k700 in the ipaq's bt manager the bt program hangs while it is "retieving services" for the k700.
Frustrating because file and pim transfer work ok from k7oo to ipaq but not from ipaq to k700.
SonyE support says that the ipaq b/t software is incomplete but I can't get anyone at hp to admit to this let alone offer a solution.
Is there a work around or software upgrade that anyone knows off.
All worked fine with the old phone (t39m).
Help!!!!

I just upgraded to a K700i a couple of days ago and ran in to the same problem with my H3970 despite having paired the two devices successfully. Using o2 but their Data Support people have not been able to come up with anything useful yet and the reply I got from Sony Ericsson was that they do not support handhelds like iPAQs. The only thing the person at Ericsson said was that all settings that was previously entered for the old phone (T68i) had to be removed prior to installing and setting up the new one. All help appreciated.

Squared and Joj... Are you using Pocket PC OS 2002 on your h3870 and h3970?

The Bluetooth stack on these two models only supports 7 profiles. The K700i offers more than this, and your Pocket PC will either crash or not recognise the phone. The solution is to upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003.

Let me know if this is not the case...

My advice from HP Support is that Pocket PC 2003 may or may not solve the problem, they (and HP) make no guarantee that the new operating system will solve the Bluetooth issues.
I'm not very keen to spend money on software for a device that I may be forced to replace.

The thing is - HP support doesn't know how this works. I actually have a h3970 with the updated Windows Mobile 2003, and a Sony Ericsson K700i for test this week. Will try tonight with my Vodafone NZ connection and let you know later.

But the problem is related with Pocket PC OS 2002...

Great. If it works for you, I'll order the software as soon as you give the nod.
Thanks Heaps

Ok, here's the confirmation... It is possible to use a Sony Ericsson k700i as a GPRS dial-up for an iPAQ h3970 with Windows Mobile 2003 (also to confirm that, as I said before, some HP reps don't know what they're talking about):

Bluetooth dial-up GPRS to k700i from iPAQ h3970 Windows Mobile 2003

Bluetooth dial-up GPRS to k700i from iPAQ h3970 Windows Mobile 2003

One more question...The HP site offers a pocket PC 2003 BT upgrade for the 3870, do you know??..is this an upgrade FOR ...or an upgrade TO the 2003 OS???

Upgrade TO... Where are you located? If you're in New Zealand, try Ascent. This is where I bought mine.

Ascent was out of stock but have ordered upgrade CD from HP Oz, seems to be the cheapest, and I live in oz too!
I'll let you know if it works for the 3870 when I get the upgrade done.
Thanks again.

Sorry about delayed response. Loaded 2003 pocket PC upgrade and dial up connection now works fine with k700 and ipaq 3870.
