kiwimatt: Hi everyone,

I was talking to a guy at Vodaphone and I think he was just using scare tactics, but can anyone who has an N95 already phone confirm:
* Sending pxts works OK
* You are able to use the SKYTV on your mobile service

Also, do the chargers that come with the phones have the cord that you can completely swap out for one with an NZ plug or do you have to fit and carry an adapter?

Thanks for your help!!

MMS works fine.

SkyTV doesn't. Music download service won't either and it's possible that you won't be able to download ringtones or games from Vodafone Live! either. All of these are Vodafone Live! features and to access these you need a Vodafone Live! handset. It's not just an N95 issue, it's the same issue when you buy any phone that's not a Vodafone branded device.

Is that something that is detected in the firmware or is it the IMEI or something else permanent to the phone that has been registered to Vodafone NZ that it is "one of theirs"? My 6680 was Voda NZ branded but after flashing it to a generic firmware I am yet to find a Voda Live service I can't use.

Sky TV Mobile works fine on my N95. I've not tried the Music Store yet so I can't comment on that.

Cool Mobile have dropped the price to $1299. Anyone bought from them before?

Buckchoi,

Please read the previous few pages.  Cool Mobile has good prices but their service and attitude is often missing.  If you want to be treated like a nobody and take on the risk of them not giving you any decent after sales service, go for Cool Mobile.

Buckchoi, to add to heavenly_wild said, when I was asking about the N95 a while before it came out, the guy who was talking to me didn't even stop texting or look at me when he was talking about the phone. I only asked him a few questions, i.e, are you getting it, when will you be getting it and how much will it cost.

He answered:

Yes, don't know, ugh (makes sound and shrugs his shoulders).

Maybe if I was buying a memory card, I would buy from them, but only if it was way cheaper than every where else. If you are going to be spending $1300, I wouldn't go to them.

EDIT: I just accessed Vodafone Live through the Vodafone Wap portal and Vodafone live displays perfectly. This is a good sign.

Ok thanks, noted. So who currently has the best deal? Preferably not no warranty, 1 month+ would be ideal.

Well on trade me you can seem to get some ok deals although cool mobile's deal is quite compeditive. Parallel Imported seems to have the best deals, they have it for $1369 and you know that they have good service.

Easily Parallel Imported (PI) if you're dead set keen on warranty. Etown is well expensive compatively, and although you'll save some money at Cool Mobile their warranty is only 3months Vs PI 12. Not to mention that their service is terrible. . .

Thanks everyone for your help. This is definitely one cool phone. Glad to hear that someone got Sky TV to work. Anyone else had luck with it?

I have some Babi and Pasco themes (from Symbian-Freak), they're free and great looking (custom icon sets and everything). My Fiance loves her Mac-flavoured theme replete with Mac icons. . .
